New Delhi (Vishvas News): A video is being widely shared on social media, purportedly showing Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth dancing with a woman. The video is being shared with the claim that Army Chief Dhiraj Seth was seen dancing with Supreet Sapra, a Major’s wife. The video also has the layout format of the ‘CNN’ website. Several social media users are sharing this video believing it to be genuine.
Vishvas News investigated the viral video and found it to be fake. An authentic video was manipulated using AI technology and circulated with false claims about the Indian Army Chief. The Indian Army has also debunked the claim.
What is going viral?
X user ‘Uzma Shah’ (@UzmaShahw1) posted a video on September 29, 2026 and wrote in English: “SHOCKING VIDEO. Indian Army Chief Gen. Dhiraj Seth spotted in another wild party moment this time dancing closely with a junior officer’s wife while holding drinks.”
Investigation
Vishvas News began investigating the viral video bywith conducting a keyword search. Since the CNN name appearedwas used in the video, we first searched CNN for reports related to it. We found no such report.
We closely examined the video in the next phase of our investigation. The people in the video showed no movement, while the liquid in the glasses they were holding also remained completely still. If a person dances while holding a glass filled with liquid, it would naturally move, but no such movement was visible in the video. This raised suspicions that the video may have been generated using AI tools.
Vishvas News used AI detection tools in the next phase of investigation. We first used ‘ZeroGPT‘, which indicated a high probability that the viral video was generated by using AI.

We then checked the viral video with ‘Meta‘ AI detection tool. The results indicated that the viral video was modified using an AI on August 23, 2026.

Similarly, the video was analysed using ‘Nvidia’s synthetic video detector‘ tool. It gave a synthetic score of 50.1% for the viral video, exceeding the 30% classification threshold. This indicated that the viral video was likely to be synthetic or AI-generated.

The Indian Army’s official fact-checking account on X also debunked the viral video. Calling it fake, the account stated that several Pakistan-based social media handles were circulating a fake video featuring Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth.
We continued this investigation by extracting several keyframes from the viral video and searched them using Google Lens. We found the original video on an Instagram account named ‘rhythiculous‘, belonging to ‘Rhythm Gupta’. This user had posted the original video on March 11, 2026. A close inspection showed that the viral video was created by tampering with this original footage. The dance movements, hand-holding and the way the glass is held are identical in both videos.

At the bottom of the viral video, an image of Supreet Sapra and her husband was used. We found this original photo posted on Supreet Sapra’s Instagram account on February 23, 2026. Although this accounthandle has since been closed, the image can still be viewed through an archived link.
During the investigation, Vishvas News contacted Supreet Sapra. She stated, “The video is fake. All of this has been orchestrated by the Pakistani military.”
Speaking to Vishvas News, Army PRO Colonel Nishant Arvind said, “The viral video is fake. It has already been debunked by the Army.”
What is the context?
Fake videos have previously been shared on social media by foreign accounts to spread misinformation about the Indian Army. The Indian Army routinely fact-checks such videos. Vishvas News has also fact-checked to bring out the truth behind such fake videos. In July 2026, a deepfake video featuring former Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi was circulated with false claims. Read that fact-check report here.
Finally, the analysis of the X user’s account, who posted the fake video revealed that she is a Pakistani journalist. The account was created in April 2026.
Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation found that the viral video purportedly showing Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth dancing with a Major’s wife is fake. The Indian Army has also debunked it. The viral clip was created using AI tools.
