Fact Check: Claim That Kharge Was Not Given A Place At The Breakfast Table With Rahul And Priyanka Gandhi Is False, Photo Is Edited
Vishvas News found in its investigation that the viral photo showing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge sitting alone on a sofa had been edited. Kharge is not present in the original photo. It only shows Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi having breakfast with the Malaysian Prime Minister and officials.

New Delhi (Vishwas News). A picture of the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi having breakfast with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is going viral on social media. Anwar Ibrahim was in Delhi to attend the BRICS Summit 2026. The photo shows Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim seated at a table with some officials for breakfast. Meanwhile, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge appears to be sitting alone on a sofa behind them. Sharing this photo, social media users are criticising Rahul Gandhi that he made Mallikarjun Kharge sit behind them because Kharge is a Dalit.
Vishvas News investigated the viral claim and found that the image had been edited. In the original photo, Mallikarjun Kharge was not present, and the sofa in the background was also empty. The original picture has been digitally altered and is now being shared with a false claim.
What is going viral?
Facebook user ‘Rashtravadi Brahmin Sharad Dwivedi’ shared the viral picture on September 17, 2026 and wrote in the caption, “Rahul Gandhi, who shouts Dalit-Dalit day and night, has no space for Dalit leader Mallikarjun Kharge at his breakfast table.”

Investigation
We searched the viral photo with the help of ‘Google Reverse Image’ to verify its authenticity. We found the original photo on Congress’ official X account. The photo was uploaded on September 13, 2026. According to the post, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over breakfast.
Based on this information, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords. We found a news report related to the claim on the website of ‘Dainik Jagran’. This report was published on September 13, 2026. According to the report, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar was in Delhi to attend the 2026 BRICS Summit. During his visit, he also met the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi. He had breakfast with both of them in Delhi.
‘Navbharat Times’ also published a report on September 13, 2026 about the meeting between the Malaysian Prime Minister and Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.

To find out whether AI had been used to create the viral photo, we analysed it using the AI detection tool ‘Hive Moderation’. This tool indicated a nearly 100 percent probability that AI had been used in the viral image.
We also examined the photo using ‘Faux Lens’. This tool also showed signs of AI manipulation in the photo.
For more information, we contacted Congress spokesperson Abhay Dubey and shared the viral photo with him for verification. He told us that the viral claim is wrong. He further added that the photo was created using AI and is being shared with a false claim.
What is the context?
Rahul Gandhi has been raising issues concerning Dalits for a long time. He raised such issues at a press conference in August 2026. He also took a jibe at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over discrimination against Dalits in the country. Finally, we checked the profile of the user who shared the viral photo with a false claim. We found that around 2,000 people follow the user on Facebook. The user described himself as a resident of Gurugram in his profile.
Conclusion: Vishvas News found in its investigation that the viral photo showing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge sitting alone on a sofa had been edited. Kharge is not present in the original photo. It only shows Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi having breakfast with the Malaysian Prime Minister and officials.
