Fact Check: Viral Claim Of Congress Leader Criticising Rahul Gandhi During CWC Meeting Is Fake, Clip Is Edited
The claim that AICC member Rehana Reyaz Chishti criticised Rahul Gandhi is fake. During the Ahmedabad Congress session, she appealed for the expulsion of those undermining his efforts.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Following the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Ahmedabad, Gujarat a misleading video is going viral on social media.Users are claiming that during this session, a Congress leader publicly criticised Rahul Gandhi, calling him a ‘failed’ leader.
Vishvas News investigated and found this claim to be fake.. In reality, Congress leader Rehana Reyaz Chisht was praising Rahul Gandhi and appealing for the expulsion of party members attempting to undermine his efforts.
What is viral?
Social media user ‘The Sanghi’ shared the viral video clip with the caption, “Congress leader who called Rahul Gandhi a ‘failed leader’ on his face…”
Many other users across different social media platforms have shared this video with similar claims.
Investigation
Analysis of the viral video clip revealed it to be an incomplete excerpt,presented without context, a common tactic in political propaganda.
We conducted a reverse image search of its key frames and found a video uploaded on the official Indian National Congress (INC) YouTube channel, on April 9, 2025 from the AICC session in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The video features Congress’ Randeep Singh Surjewala calling Chishti, an AICC member from Rajasthan to address the gathering. She stated, “Rahul ji did a padyatra (foot march) across the country from Kanyakumari to Kashmir… a huge crowd was walking with him… and where do we fail?” After this she says, “Our leaders work 24 hours a day…who wants to fail them…we first need to look inside ourselves. We need to find out who among us is a traitor…who wants to fail our leader. Those who work hard day and night, talk about the public, and despite that, what we want does not happen.”
She concludes her statement stating, “…I tell Rahul ji that those who are not loyal to the Congress party, who do not want to take the Congress party forward, who do not want to implement your words…those who think about themselves and do not think about the Congress party, you should remove them.”
Our investigation confirms that Chishti did not criticise Rahul Gandhi.
Chishti is the former chairperson of the Rajasthan Women’s Commission and an AICC member. She has also shared this video clip from her profile.
This two-day session of Congress concluded on April 9 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
We contacted Rehana Reyaz Chishti regarding this clip. She said, “My statement was about those people who work against the party while being in it and because of this the hard work of other senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi goes waste.”
The Facebook user who shared the viral video with the misleading claim has approximately 87000 followers.
