Fact Check: Old Video Of Missile Attack On Israel Falsely Shared As Attack On Mumbai

New Delhi (Vishvas News): After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, tension between India and Pakistan persists, although a ceasefire has currently been announced. Amid this, a video is going viral on social media claiming that Pakistan has launched a missile attack on Mumbai. The video shows a city being hit by missiles.
Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found this claim to be fake. The viral video has no connection to Mumbai. The video is from a past incident when Iran carried out a missile attack on Israel.
What is going viral?
A thread user ‘skbindas353’ posted a video on May 10, 2025, claiming that Mumbai has just been attacked.
‘May 10’ was mentioned in the video.

Investigation
To verify the authenticity of the viral video, Vishwas News used the Google Lens tool to extract and analyse several key frames of the video being shared as an attack on Mumbai.
We found the original video on the official Facebook page of All India Radio News, posted on October 2, 2024, stating that Iran launched multiple missile attacks on Israel one after the other.
We also found the same video on the YouTube channel of the New York Post, uploaded on October 2, 2024, with the caption that the Iranian ballistic missiles attack had destroyed Israel’s security. Several attacks were reported in Tel Aviv and other populated areas.
Investigation so far clearly indicates that an old video from another country has been made viral with the false claim of an attack in Mumbai.
We contacted Mumbai-based journalist Sarvesh Pathak and shared the viral video with him. He confirmed that the viral video is fake and no such incident has occurred in Mumbai.
Lastly, we checked the profile of the Thread user who posted the misleading post. However, no specific information could be found about him.
