Fact Check: Viral Clip Of Israeli Soldier Pleading Iran to Stop War Is AI-Generated

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Amidst the current tensions between Israel and Iran, a video is viral on social media where an Israeli soldier can be seen pleading for an end to the conflict. This clip has gone viral, with many users believing it to be real.
Vishvas News investigated the viral clip and found it to be AI-generated.
What is in the viral post
Instagram user Mdi Shaik (archived link) shared the post on June 16, 2025. In the video, a soldier can be heard saying, “Iran, we beg you, please stop the attack. Half of Israel is gone. We surrender. Just stop this destruction.” The was shared with the caption “Israeli soldiers are crying and begging for mercy from Iran”
Investigation
We began our investigation by closely analysing the video and identified a few discrepancies. For instance, the hand movement of the soldier seemed robotic. We suspected that the video could be AI-generated.
To verify, we decided to check the clip using the AI detection tools.
AI detection tool Hive Moderation indicated over 86% probability that the video was AI-generated.
We also contacted Vishvas News partner Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU), an initiative of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA). The DAU team’s findings are as below:
1) Hiya – The tool found the audio track to be generated or modified by AI.
2) Deepfake-o-meter – Out of 6 audio classifiers, 4 were found to return high confidence scores for the audio being AI-generated.
We also shared the viral video with Dr Azahar Machwe, an expert in AI and emerging technology. He also confirmed that the video was AI-generated. He highlighted several inconsistencies, including problems with the microphone, a lack of background detail, and distorted facial features of the soldiers, especially noticeable towards the end of the video.
