New Delhi (Vishvas News). Many users are sharing a video on different social media platforms, in which the police can be seen beating several people wearing underwear in public on the road. It is being claimed that this video is of the alleged beating of Ambedkar supporters, who had threatened the upper castes on social media.
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found this claim to be false. The viral video is footage of a Kannada film shooting, which is being shared with a false claim, giving it a communal narrative.
What is viral?
Facebook user ‘Vikee Dhabhai‘ shared the viral video, with the caption, “The Bhimta gang, which threatened Manuwadis on Instagram, was served today… Tochan Zindabad.”
Investigation
To find the source of the viral video, we conducted a reverse image search of its key frames and found this video on the @KannadaPichhar YouTube channel.
According to the information provided, this is a video of the shooting of the Kannada movie ‘Deadly Soma 2’.
We found this video posted in the same context on several other YouTube channels.
According to a report on Kannada.news.18 website dated April 16, 2025, “Director Ravi Srivatsa is back. After a long time, he is again telling the story of Deadly Soma. He is also telling how the underworld works in the current system.”
Our investigation makes it clear that the video going viral is not of the actual incident, but is footage from the shooting of a Kannada film.
We contacted Bengaluru-based local journalist Girdhar Narayan regarding the viral video, and he confirmed that it is not related to any incident, but footage from the Kannada film ‘Deadly Soma 2’.
It is noteworthy that ‘Deadly Soma 2’ is the sequel to the 2005 Kannada film ‘Deadly Soma’.
The user who shared the viral video on Facebook has approximately 12 followers. The profile frequently shares content aligned with a particular ideology.
