Fact Check: AI-Generated Plane Crash Image Falsely Linked to Dhaka Fighter Jet Incident
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that the viral image of the crashed plane being linked to the Dhaka fighter jet accident is AI-generated and does not depict the real accident in Bangladesh.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): On July 21, 2025, an Air Force plane crashed into a school in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, resulting in at least 30 fatalities and over 160 injuries. Now, an image showing a crashed aircraft is going viral on social media, with users claiming that it depicts the Dhaka crash.
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that this claim is false and the picture is AI-generated.
What is viral?
Facebook user Muhammed Sajid shared the viral image (archive link) on July 21, 2025, linking it to the Dhaka crash, with the caption, “The jet crash at a school in Dhaka was no small accident. Many people lost their lives and the school was destroyed. Rescue teams are on the spot and rescue operations are underway. May Allah keep everyone safe.”
Investigation
To verify this post, we closely analysed the picture and noticed several discrepancies; while the surrounding debris appears heavily damaged, the plane itself shows minimal impact. These discrepancies raised the suspicion that the picture might be AI-generated.
To verify further, analysed the image using the AI image detection tools. Hive Moderation indicated a 99.9% probability of the picture being AI-generated.
SightEngine indicated a 99% probability of the image being AI-generated.
Another tool, ‘Is It AI,’ also indicated a 99% probability of it being AI-generated.
We shared the viral post with AI and emerging technology expert Azhar Machwe, who confirmed that the photo is AI-generated.
