Fact Check: Viral Claim That Kamal Nath Called Rahul Gandhi ‘Shiva’s Incarnation’, Is False

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A post attributed to former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath is going viral on social media, claiming that he referred to Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, as an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
Vishvas News had previously investigated this viral statement in detail and found it to be fake. He never made any such statement about Rahul.

On August 3, 2025, Facebook user ‘Anand K Pandey’ shared a post with the claim, “Rahul Gandhi is an incarnation of Shiva: Kamal Nath!! Give him a little ‘poison’ and check. People will believe him and they will also want proof!”

Investigation
Vishvas News previously investigated this claim on April 27, 2023. Starting with a Google Open Search, we did not find any credible news reports confirming the viral statement attributed to Kamal Nath. However, we did find news reports about Congress members in Prayagraj, UP, referring to Rahul as an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
A news report dated December 16, 2017, stated that after Rahul was appointed as the national president, Congress leaders in Prayagraj put up posters portraying him in the Neelkanth incarnation of Lord Shiva. These posters were displayed outside Anand Bhawan.
Vishvas News also contacted Madhya Pradesh Congress General Secretary Ravi Saxena regarding the viral claim, who clarified that Kamal Nath never made any such statement.

At the end of the investigation, the user who shared the fake post was identified as Anand K Pandey, a resident of Varanasi, with over 2000 followers.
