Fact Check: Bilawal Bhutto Did Not Say, “Our People Are Sitting In Indian Parliament”, Viral Video Is Edited And Fake

New Delhi (Vishvas News). The opposition continues to create a ruckus in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament over the ‘Special Intensive Revision Campaign’ (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. During this session, an extensive discussion was held in the Lok Sabha on Operation Sindoor, with participation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, and opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi.

In this context, a video clip of Gaurav Gogoi’s speech in Lok Sabha is being shared on social media alongside a clip of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) president Bilawal Bhutto. In the latter, he is allegedly heard claiming that his people are sitting in the Indian Parliament and that he can use them to broadcast Pakistani propaganda within it.

Vishvas News, in its investigation, found this claim to be fake. In reality, Bilawal Bhutto, enraged by the action taken against Pakistan during ‘Operation Sindoor’, had delivered a statement against India in the Pakistani Parliament. However, a fabricated remark, “Our people are sitting in the Indian Parliament”, was inserted into this video using his audio clone. The edited clip was then paired with a video of Gogoi speaking in the Lok Sabha during a special discussion on ‘Operation Sindoor’, where the opposition questioned the government about the operation. In response, several ministers, including the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Defence Minister, and Foreign Minister, also participated in this discussion.

What is viral?

Social media user ‘Shashank Shekhar Mishra‘ shared the viral video clip with the caption, “Our people are also sitting in the Parliament of India – Bilawal Bhutto Pakistani leader.”

Investigation

In the viral video, Bilawal Bhutto can be heard saying, “…Who attacks in the dark of night? We can even have our propaganda presented before the Prime Minister of India in his Parliament! Who attacks in the darkness of night? Our people are sitting in their Parliament.”

After this, the video shifts to Gogoi, who is seen expressing his views on ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the Lok Sabha. He says, ” five to six jets have fallen. Each jet is worth crores of rupees. Millions and millions. That is why we want to know…. Today, respected Rajnath Singh ji should clearly tell us how many fighter planes have fallen. We have that courage, because this information…!” The video indicates an attempt to use Bhutto’s alleged statement to spread political propaganda in India.

Based on the keyword search for Bhutto’s statement, we found the original video of his statement on the YouTube channel of Pakistan People’s Party. As per the details provided, the footage captures Bhutto’s statement in the Pakistani Parliament following India’s action taken by India during ‘Operation Sindoor’, where he stated, “Who attacks at night, cowards attack in the darkness of night. If they had courage, they would have come in the day and declared war. They would have confronted our soldiers. They would have confronted our army… but these cowards have targeted unarmed children in the darkness of night.”

At no point in the video does Bhutto claim that Pakistani supporters are present in the Indian Parliament. On closely examining the video, we found that during the portion where he is allegedly making this claim, the visuals and audio are out of sync, a clear indication of editing. This line about Pakistani supporters in the Indian Parliament appears to have been added using an audio clone of Bhutto’s voice. We also come across the same statement by Bhutto on another YouTube channel, where he is targeting India. In his statement, Bhutto accused India of being ‘cowards’, to which Priyanka Chaturvedi responded that cowards are those who overthrow an elected government.

Our investigation confirms that the viral video is edited. To explore the possibility of AI manipulation, we consulted the Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU), an initiative of our partner MCA. They explained that the background music in the video prevents detection tools from accurately identifying AI manipulation. Similar tactics have been observed in the past, where such audio elements were deliberately used to bypass AI detection.

The second part of the viral video features Gogoi in Parliament, demanding answers from the government about the damages caused during ‘Operation Sindoor’.

On July 28, 2025, the Lok Sabha held a special discussion on ‘Operation Sindoor’. During the session, Gogoi questioned Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks on the military operation, asking how Pakistani terrorists managed to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir. He further demanded that the government disclose how many Indian fighter jets were lost during ‘Operation Sindoor’ and accused the government of hiding information about this matter.

We contacted Pakistani journalist Lubna Jarar Naqvi regarding the viral video. She dismissed the video clip as fake, clarifying that Bhutto never made any statement about the presence of ‘our men’ in the Indian Parliament. She also provided us with the original footage of Bhutto’s speech in the Pakistani Parliament, which contains no such statement.

The Facebook user who shared the viral video has around 5000 followers.

Conclusion: Bilawal Bhutto never stated in the Pakistani Parliament, “Our people are also sitting in the Parliament of India”. The viral video making this claim is fake and edited, with the fabricated statement inserted using an audio clone of Bhutto’s voice.
