Fact Check: Viral Video Claiming To Show Pro-Gaza Rally In Japan Is AI-Generated

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video showing a massive crowd waving Palestinian flags is going viral on social media, with claims that it depicts a historic pro-Gaza demonstration in Japan.
Vishvas News investigated the viral claim and found that the video is not real but was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
What is in the viral post?
Facebook user Abdul H Khan (Archived link) shared the viral post on August 10, 2025, with the caption, “Historic scenes from Japan: A flood of people gathered in support of Gaza and protest against the genocide being carried out against the people there.”
Investigation
We began our investigation by closely examining the video. On detailed observation, we noticed several visual anomalies, such as incomplete human figures, blurred faces in the crowd, and distorted building structures in the background. These anomalies raised suspicion that the footage might be AI-generated.
To verify, we analysed the clip using Hive Moderation, a tool for detecting AI-generated content, which indicated a 98% probability of being AI-generated.
Cantilux, another AI-detection tool, indicated an 82% probability of the clip being AI-generated.
AI expert Azhar Machwe confirmed that the video was AI-generated, citing multiple visible flaws characteristic of AI-generated content.
Further keyword searches revealed that while real pro-Palestinian rallies have occurred in Osaka and Tokyo in recent months and the past, addressing issues such as ‘starvation in Gaza’ and ‘deportations in Germany’, none matched the large-scale as depicted in the viral video.
Next, we analysed the page that shared the video with the false claim and found that it has 70000 followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that the viral video of pro-Gaza demonstrations in Japan is not real, but was created using AI.
