Fact Check: Viral Saree Shop Loot Video Linked To Bihar Bandh Is From A Sale In Udaipur

Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that the video of a saree sale in Udaipur is being shared as a shop loot in Muzaffarpur during the Bihar Bandh. Actually, this video is from Udaipur, Rajasthan, where a huge crowd had gathered during a saree sale.

New Delhi Vishvas News. A video of a crowded saree shop is going viral on social media, claiming that BJP workers looted it in Muzaffarpur during the ‘Bihar Bandh’ on September 4, 2025, while chanting the slogan ‘Main Bhi Maa Hoon’. (I am also a mother).

Vishvas News investigated this claim and found it to be false. The video is actually from a saree sale in Udaipur, Rajasthan, and has nothing to do with the Bihar Bandh

What is going viral

An Instagram user named ‘humhaifunny’ (archive link) shared this video on September 5, 2025, with the caption, “During yesterday’s Bihar Bandh, BJP Mahila Morcha leaders looted a saree shop in Muzaffarpur while shouting ‘Main Bhi Maa Hoon’ slogan.”

Investigation

Upon searching the screenshots of the viral video using Google Lens, we found the original clip uploaded on an Instagram account named ‘agarwalsarees’ on August 20, 2025, with the caption: “Day 60 of big sale 2025. Agarwal sarees.”

We found multiple similar videos shared on the official Instagram page of Agarwal Sarees

When we contacted the phone number listed on their profile, the store confirmed: “The video is from our shop in Hathipol, Udaipur (Rajasthan) during our big sale, originally uploaded on our Instagram handle on August 20, 2025.”

Bihar Bandh was organised on 4 September

The NDA called for a Bihar Bandh on September 4, 2025, in response to objectionable remarks made about PM Modi and his mother during the Congress-RJD’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga.
