Fact Check: Clipped Video Of Akhilesh Yadav Criticising Yogi Government Goes Viral With False Claim

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video of Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav is going viral on social media, where he appears to be promoting the use of cow-based products. Some users are sharing it with the claim that Yadav is advocating for cow products.

Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the video is incomplete and is being shared with a false claim. The original video is from a press conference held on October 15,2025 where a journalist asked Yadav about the Yogi government’s cow tourism scheme. In response, he criticised the Yogi government and said, “Cow tourism has to be done. Serve the cow. Worship the cow. Eat cow products. We have no objection to that. At least save Uttar Pradesh from bulls.”

What is the viral post?

Instagram user ‘navbharattv100’ shared the video (archived link) on October 22, 2025, with the caption, “Akhilesh Yadav should eat cow, its destruction is certain.” In response, Yadav replies, “Eat other cow-based products. We have no objection.”

Investigation

To verify the viral claim, we extracted key frames from the video and searched them using Google Lens. The SP press conference was streamed live on October 15, 2025 from Bharat Samachar’s X handle. Around the 4:30 mark, a journalist asks Akhilesh about the Yogi government’s cow tourism plan, to which he replied, “We want to do cow tourism. Serve cows. Worship cows. Eat cow products. We have no objection to that. At least save Uttar Pradesh from bulls.” Akhilesh then criticised the Yogi government, citing the death of a person due to a bull attack and referring to other similar incidents.

The SP’s official account also livestreamed this press conference on October 15, where the viral video also appears. Watching the full video reveals Akhilesh criticising the Yogi government and referring to the use of cow-based products.

Dainik Bhaskar published a report about this press conference held in Lucknow on October 15, which stated, “Speaking on cow tourism, Akhilesh Yadav said, ‘Serve cows. We have no objection. But save Uttar Pradesh from bulls. Instead of cow tourism, promote bull tourism.”

For further clarification, we reached out to SP’s national spokesperson, Dr Ashutosh Verma and shared the viral video with him. He clarified that the video has been doctored and that misleading claims were being spread using incomplete videos.

We scanned the profile of the user who shared the incomplete video and found that the user has over 18000 followers and is influenced by a specific ideology.

Conclusion: While criticising the Yogi government, Akhilesh Yadav had said that people should consume more cow products. However, an incomplete video is now being shared with a misleading claim.
