Fact Check: Fake Postcard Claiming Amit Shah Insulted People Of Bihar Goes Viral

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Since the announcement of the Bihar election dates, social media has been flooded with fake and misleading posts. Now, a postcard from a news channel is going viral, claiming that Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that people from Bihar would be barred from entering Delhi and Mumbai if they did not vote for the BJP.

Vishvas News conducted an investigation and found it to be false. The viral postcard is doctored and was created by morphing an original image from the ABP News channel. Our investigation revealed that Amit Shah never made any such statement.

What is going viral

A Facebook user posted the fake postcard to a group on October 23, 2025, with the caption, “If the people of Bihar do not vote for our party, we will not let them enter Delhi and Mumbai.”

Many social media users are sharing it, believing it to be true. An archived version of the post can be seen here.

Investigation

Vishvas News began its investigation using the Google Open Search tool, generating keywords from the viral post to verify the claim. No credible news report supported it. If Shah had indeed made such a statement, it would have been widely reported by the mainstream media.

In the next stage of our investigation, we examined the postcard closely and noticed several discrepancies. Words such as ‘walon’, ‘mein’, and ‘nahin’ were misspelt in Hindi. The ABP Live logo appeared to be cut off and the font used in the viral image did not match with the channel’s original font.

For further investigation, we scanned ABP News’ social media accounts and found a post dated August 29, 2025, featuring the same photo and postcard of Shah that is now being manipulated and circulated with a false claim.

ABP News itself refuted the viral postcard on its social media handles, stating the truth. On October 23, 2025, ABP News declared it fake, stating, “This card being circulated on social media in the name of ABP News is completely fake. No such statement was made by the Home Minister, nor was any such news published by ABP News. We will take legal action against such individuals. You are requested to avoid fake news and rely only on our official social media handles for authentic news.”

At the end of our investigation, we contacted Shashi Kumar, a member of the BJP’s social media team, and shared the viral post with him. He called it fake, saying that the opposition is deliberately spreading such false statements during the Bihar elections. There’s no truth in it.

Lastly, we scanned the Facebook page of the user ‘Pradeep Wadhwa Sonu’, who shared the misleading post and found that the user has over 10000 followers.

Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found the viral post attributing a statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to be fake and baseless. He never made any such statement about the people of Bihar as claimed in the viral post.
