Fact Check: Edited Video Of AAP Leader Rakhi Birlan Goes Viral With False Claim
Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral claim is false. The viral video is actually edited and dates back to 2020, when Rakhi used offensive words against PM Modi in the Delhi Assembly. Amit Shah and PM Modi were not present at that time and were added to the video later, after editing it.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former MLA from Mangolpuri, Rakhi Birlan, is going viral on social media, in which Rakhi takes a dig at the BJP and PM Modi. It is being claimed that she took the jibe in front of PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral claim is false. The video is actually edited and dates back to 2020, when Rakhi used offensive words against PM Modi in the Delhi Assembly. Amit Shah and PM Modi were not present at the time. The video was edited, and the two were added later.
What is going viral?
Facebook user ‘Anuj Kumar‘ shared the viral video on November 1, 2025, with the caption, “A tea seller directly becomes the Prime Minister with the right to vote.”
Investigation
To verify the authenticity of the viral video, we conducted a Google reverse image search using relevant key frames. This led us to a video on the AAP’s official YouTube channel, uploaded on March 14, 2020. According to available information, “The video is from the Delhi Assembly. The viral video can be heard from the 2:28 minute mark. In the original video, other leaders present in the Assembly interrupt them, and PM Modi and Amit Shah are not present.”
We also found the original video uploaded on the official YouTube channels of City Headlines and The Print.
During our investigation, we found a video of PM Modi on his official YouTube channel, shared on February 6, 2025. According to available information, “The video is from the Rajya Sabha during the budget session. Edited portions of this video are being shared with a false claim.”
We also found a video of Home Minister Amit Shah on the PTI News official account, shared on August 20, 2025. According to available information, the video is from a discussion in the Lok Sabha.
While searching for Rakhi, we found that she contested the Delhi Assembly elections from the Madipur constituency in 2025, where she faced defeat.
For further clarification, we contacted Dainik Jagran correspondent VK Shukla, who covers AAP in Delhi. He confirmed that the viral video is old and edited. The user identified himself as a Delhi resident in his profile.
Finally, we scanned the Facebook account of the user who shared the video with the false claim and found that the user has 87000 followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral claim is false. The viral video is actually edited and dates back to 2020, when Rakhi used offensive words against PM Modi in the Delhi Assembly. Amit Shah and PM Modi were not present at that time and were added to the video later, after editing it.
