Fact Check: Video Of Priyanka Gandhi Speaking About Atrocities Against Hindus And Christians In Bangladesh Is A Year Old, Not After The All-Party Meeting
In December last year, during the Lok Sabha winter session, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra raised the issue of atrocities against Hindus and Christians in Bangladesh. A clip of that clip is being shared with the claim that it was recorded after her meeting with PM Modi.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). On December 19, the last day of the winter session, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla held a meeting with Lok Sabha MPs in the Parliament House chamber. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were also present there.
Following this, a video of Priyanka is going viral on social media, in which she is seen raising the issue of atrocities against Hindus and Christians in Bangladesh. Some users are sharing it and claiming that it was recorded after her meeting with PM Modi.
Vishvas News investigated and found this claim to be misleading. The video dates back to December 2024, when Priyanka raised the issue in Parliament. While the clip is old, it is worth noting that following the recent murder of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh, Priyanka has again urged the government to take cognisance of the violence against minorities in Bangladesh and raise the issue of their safety with the Bangladesh government.
What is the viral post?
Instagram user ‘indiaprimenews24x7’ shared Priyanka’s video (archive link) with the caption, “Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has expressed concern over the alleged attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, especially the Hindu and Christian communities. She said that violence on religious grounds in any country is a serious violation of human rights and the international community should not remain silent on this. According to reports, minority areas were targeted amid the recent protests and political instability. Priyanka Gandhi also appealed to the Indian government to raise the issue of ensuring the safety of minorities with the Bangladesh government at the diplomatic level. This statement points to the growing intolerance and human rights crisis in the region.”
The caption on the video reads, “Priyanka Gandhi gets hacked after having tea with Modi ji.”
Investigation
To verify the viral claim, we performed a Google search using relevant keywords. This led us to a related video news story uploaded on Zee News’ YouTube channel on December 16, 2024. According to the report, “Priyanka Gandhi raised the issue of atrocities against Hindus and Christians in Bangladesh in Parliament. The viral clip can be seen starting at 2:15 minutes into the video.”
A video of the Lok Sabha winter session proceedings was uploaded on the YouTube channel of Sansad TV on December 16, 2025 where the viral clip can be seen after two minutes.
This proves that the viral video clip is from the winter session of the Lok Sabha last year.
According to a BBC News report on December 19, 2025 in the violence that broke out in Bangladesh, a mob beat Hindu youth Deepu Chandra Das to death on the charge of insulting religion.
Priyanka expressed concern over the incident on December 19, 2025 from her X handle, posting, “The news of the brutal mob lynching of Hindu Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh is extremely worrying. In any civilised society, discrimination, violence and murder based on religion, caste, identity, etc. are crimes against humanity. The Indian government should take cognisance of the increasing violence against Hindu, Christian and Buddhist minorities in the neighbouring country and strongly raise the issue of their safety with the Bangladesh government.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, while posting a photo of the meeting with PM Modi and other Parliament members, including Priyanka, on December 19, wrote that “After the conclusion of the sixth session of the 18th Lok Sabha, there was a pleasant discussion with PM Modi and leaders of all parties in his office in Parliament House.”
Regarding this, UP Congress spokesperson Abhimanyu Tyagi said that Congress advocates for the welfare of all and has consistently raised their issues. The claim that the issue of Bangladeshi minorities was raised after the meeting with PM Modi is false. The viral clip dates back to last year’s winter session.
Lastly, we scanned the profile of the user who shared the old video with the false claim. And found that the user has over 5800 followers.
