Fact Check: Video of Fight Between Harmanpreet And Fatima Is AI Generated
An AI-created video is going viral claiming to depict a scuffle between Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Pakistani captain Fatima Sana during the India-Pakistan match at the Women's T20 World Cup 2026. Some users are sharing this synthetic video and making false claims.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). The first match between India and Pakistan in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup was played on June 14, 2026, where India defeated Pakistan by 64 runs. A video related to this match is going viral on social media, allegedly showing an altercation between Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Pakistani team captain Fatima Sana. Some users have shared this video claiming it to be from a recent India-Pakistan match.
Vishvas News investigated and found that no such incident occurred during the match and the viral video is AI-created.
What is the viral post?
Instagram user ‘imadvait5’ shared a video ( archive link ) on June 15, 2026, with the caption, “Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: Heated argument between Harmanpreet and Fatima Sana during India-Pakistan match.”
Investigation
To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords and watched the entire footage of the India-Pakistan match played on June 14, 2026, in Birmingham but did not find any credible report supporting the claim.
We then carefully examined the viral clip and found that ‘Pakistan’ was misspelled on the sleeves of Pakistani players’ jerseys. At some points in the video, the players can also be seen wearing their jerseys upside down. This raised the suspicion that the video was AI-created or edited.
To verify this, we contacted the Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU), an initiative of our partner, the TIA (formerly the MCA). They shared with us analysis from several detection tools. When we checked the screenshot of the viral video with SiteEngine, it was 98% AI-generated.
When the audio of the video was checked with ‘Hiya’, it was found to be 76% AI generated or tampered with.
We contacted Dainik Jagran’s sports editor, Abhishek Tripathi, who stated that no such clash occurred. The AI video being shared is claiming it is from a match.
What is the context?
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 began on June 12, 2026, with the final scheduled for July 5, 2026. England hosts the tournament and features 12 teams. In the India-Pakistan match on June 14, 2026, the Indian team scored 170 runs in 20 overs. In response, Pakistan were all out for 106 runs in 17 overs.
A report published on Aaj Tak’s website on June 14, 2026, stated that the Indian and Pakistani teams competed in the Women’s T20 World Cup in Birmingham. The ‘no-handshake policy’ remained in effect during this match as well. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur did not shake hands with Pakistani captain Fatima Sana during the toss. It should be noted that since the Pahalgam attack in April 2025, Indian players have refrained from shaking hands with Pakistani players during and after the toss in several matches.
The Instagram user who shared the viral AI video has over 2,000 followers, and the account was created in May 2025.
