New Delhi (Vishvas News). Protests demanding the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were held in several parts of the country. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency in Himachal Pradesh, and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut criticised Gen-Z for the language used during the student protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Kangana referred to Gen-Z as the ‘Gutter Generation’. Following this, a video is going viral on social media showing some people attacking a woman after she gets out of a car. Some users are sharing the video and claiming that women assaulted Kangana after her offensive statement against Gen-Z.
Vishvas News investigated the viral claim and found it to be a misleading post. The claim that Kangana was assaulted is false. The viral video is from Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, where the daughter of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader was attacked.
What is the viral post?
Instagram user ‘cockroachjantaparty.raj.india’ shared a video (archived link) on August 2, 2026. It reads, “Controversy erupts after statement on ‘(Gen Z)’; Kangana Ranaut surrounded by women as she gets out of car, allegedly slapped.”

Investigation
To verify the viral claim, we first searched on Google using keywords for news about the alleged attack on Kangana. We did not find any report that could confirm the viral claim.
We then extracted keyframes from the video and searched it using Google Lens. We found that Facebook user ‘Truth Of Bengal‘ posted this video on July 31, 2026, claiming it showed an attack on the daughter of a TMC leader.

This video was also posted on July 30, 2026, on the Instagram account ‘abpanandatv‘, claiming it showed an attack on the daughter of a TMC leader.

A keyword search led us to a news report published by the West Bengal news portal ‘eisamay‘. It states, “On July 30, 2026, in front of the Jalpaiguri Kotwali police station, Trinamool leader Krishna Das’s daughter, Pranayata Das, arrived for questioning before the investigating officer following a court order. As Pranayata’s car entered the police station premises, eggs were thrown at her. Her hair was pulled as she exited the car. Police somehow managed to take her inside the police station. Krishna Das contested the Jalpaiguri Sadar assembly constituency on a TMC ticket in 2026 but lost. His daughter, Pranayata, is an education officer with the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad. Protesters alleged that Krishna, his daughter, and their supporters attacked six BJP workers the day after the West Bengal assembly election results were announced. The attackers have been absconding since then.”

We contacted Pinaki Ranjan Pal, editor of Jalpaiguri’s local news portal, ‘Jalpaiguri News’, regarding the viral video. He confirmed that the video shows an attack on the daughter of TMC leader Krishna Das. The woman in the video is not Kangana Ranaut.
What is the context?
To combat rigging in NEET and other examinations, a protest was held under the banner of the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), in which a large number of Gen-Z participated. Kangana Ranaut objected to the language and objectionable reels used in the protest and called Gen-Z the ‘gutter generation’. She said, “I have never seen anything so strange and so bad in my life. Who gave birth to them, who is raising them? This is the gutter generation. These girls can’t even become good housewives.” According to a BBC report, after the controversy surrounding her statement, she clarified, “I opposed the immoral, gutter-like behavior of some protesters and the normalization of obscene behavior in front of young people, elders, and women. Our society will never accept this, because we don’t want our children to behave obscenely or do anything that would make the elders of the house hang their heads in shame. Such behavior will not be accepted at all, nor will it be normalized.”
We also checked the profile of the user who shared the video with a false claim. This account was created in May 2026 and it has more than 59 thousand followers.
