Fact Check: Claim of Abhijeet Dipke meeting Jharkhand Congress chief is FAKE

New Delhi (Vishvas News). After the student protests led by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, a new student protest has now begun in Jharkhand. It led to uproar in the state assembly. Students in Ranchi are protesting against the alleged rigging and paper leaks in the recruitment exams conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). In this context, a photo is being shared on various social media platforms with the claim that the Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke met with the Jharkhand Congress chief amid the ongoing student protests in Ranchi.  

Vishvas News found this claim to be false in its investigation. The claim that CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke met with the Jharkhand Congress chief amid the ongoing student protests in Ranchi is false. The person seen with Dipke in the viral photo is Maharashtra Congress leader ‘Babajani Durrani’.

What Is Viral?

Facebook user ‘Worldwirenews’ shared the viral image (archive link) and wrote, ”BREAKING | Political Buzz in Jharkhand! Abhijeet Dipke’s meeting with the State Congress President has sparked fresh political discussions amid the ongoing Jharkhand student protests. Is this just a courtesy meeting or the beginning of a bigger political development? What’s your opinion? Share your thoughts in the comments.”

Several other users on different social media platforms have shared the image with the same claim.

Investigation

During our news search, we found several reports mentioning student protests in Jharkhand. According to a ‘Prabhat Khabar’ report dated August 7, 2026 , on the protests by JPSC-JSSC candidates, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said, ”He is ready to listen to the protesting students.”

Another report in Prabhat Khabar states, “The second day of the Jharkhand Assembly’s monsoon session saw a huge uproar over the JPSC-JSSC rigging scandal. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs cornered the government strongly both inside and outside the House.”

Several other reports also mention this student protest in Ranchi. However, our search did not find any report mentioning a meeting between the Jharkhand Congress president and the Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke. If the two had met, the news would have been widely reported in the media.

Vishvas News contacted the current Jharkhand Congress President ‘Keshav Mahto Kamlesh’ regarding the matter. He confirmed, ”There has been no meeting between him and Abhijeet Dipke.”

We then searched for the man standing with Abhijeet Dipke in the viral photo. A reverse image search found the photo on the official Instagram page of ‘Babajani Durrani’, which was shared on August 4, 2026.

In the shared video, Babajani Durrani can be seen welcoming Abhijeet Dipke. According to the information provided on the profile page, Babajani Durrani is a Maharashtra Congress leader and served as an MLA from Pathri-Selu between 2004 and 2009. He is currently the Congress President in Parbhani.

According to the information available on the website ‘MyNeta’, his real name is ‘Abdullah Khan Latif Khan Durrani’ (Babajani).

According to ‘The Hindu’ report, ”Abdullah Khan Latif Khan Durrani (Babajani) contested the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections as an independent candidate from the Pathri constituency of Parbhani district.”

What is the context?

Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi is witnessing massive protests by students against alleged rigging and paper leaks in the JPSC (Jharkhand Public Service Commission) and JSSC (Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission) recruitment exams.

According to news reports , the protests have been ongoing at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium since July 25, 2026. Several students, led by Devendra Nath Mahato, are on an indefinite hunger strike.
