Fact Check: Old Video Of Sunny Deol Falsely Linked To Uttar Kumar Case

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video featuring Bollywood actor Sunny Deol in Parliament is being widely shared on social media with a misleading claim linking it to Haryanvi actor-director Uttar Kumar, recently arrested on rape charges. The viral post alleges that Sunny Deol signed documents supporting Uttar Kumar.
Vishvas News investigated the video and found that it dates back to June 2019, when Sunny Deol was sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP). The video is being shared falsely, linking it to the Uttar Kumar case.

Instagram user ‘arjun_saini13143’ posted the video (archive link) on September 21, 2025, with the caption, “Sunny Deol signs to get justice for Uttar Kumar.”
Investigation
The viral video appears to be from Parliament, showing BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad seated nearby. Using this visual evidence, we conducted a keyword search on Google and found a longer version of the clip on the Parliament TV YouTube channel, uploaded on June 18, 2019. The description states: “BJP’s Sunny Deol takes oath as MP for 17th Lok Sabha. He represents the Gurdaspur constituency.”
According to a report published on NDTV’s website on June 18, 2019, “Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol, and Aam Aadmi Party’s lone MP Bhagwant Mann were among the leaders who took oath as members of the 17th Lok Sabha.”
A related report can also be found on News18’s website, which proves that the video of Sunny Deol is approximately six years old.
According to a report published on Dainik Jagran’s website on September 16, 2025, “Sahibabad police have arrested Haryanavi film producer Uttar Kumar on rape charges. An actress has accused him of raping her on the pretext of marriage. The court has sent Uttar to 14-day judicial custody.”
To verify further, we contacted Sunny Deol’s PA, Pankaj Joshi, and he confirmed that the viral video is old.
Lastly, we scanned the profile of the user who shared the old video with the false claim and found that the user has around 5000 followers.
