Fact Check: Fake Post About Munawar Faruqui’s Death Goes Viral On Social Media
Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral post claiming the death of actor and comedian Munawar Faruqui is fake. He is alive and in good health.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Delhi Police have arrested two criminals, Rohit Godara and a member of the Goldy Barar gang, following an encounter in the Kalindi Kunj. The two were allegedly involved in a plot to murder stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui. Amid this, a post claiming that Munawar Faruqui has died is being widely shared on social media, accompanied by this picture.
In its investigation, Vishvas News found the viral claim to be false. Faruqui is alive and doing well. The viral post about his death is being shared based on false information, misleading users into believing it to be true.
What is the Viral Post?
Facebook user ‘69casm’ shared the viral post on October 2, 2025, with the caption, “Munawar Faruqui is no more.”

Investigation
To verify the authenticity of he viral claim, we conducted a Google search and did not find any credible news reports confirming the claim. Had anything happened to Faruqui, it would have been widely covered by the media.
During our search, we found a related report on the Jagran website published on October 2, 2025. The report stated: “Delhi Police arrested two criminals, Rohit Godara and a member of the Goldy Barar gang, after an encounter in the Kalindi Kunj area. These criminals were plotting to kill stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui. Police had received information that the criminals were present in the New Friends Colony area. Both were shot in the leg during the encounter and subsequently arrested.”
We also found several other news reports confirming the arrest of the two individuals who had plotted to kill Faruqui.
We further checked Faruqui’s official social media handles and found no credible information suggesting his demise.
To verify further, we shared the viral post with Smita Shrivastava, a senior journalist with Dainik Jagran who covers Bollywood news in Mumbai. She confirmed that the claim is completely false and that Faruqui is fine.
Lastly, we scanned the Facebook profile of the user who shared the post and found that the user has 61000 followers.
