Fact Check: Viral Video Of Mukesh Ambani Discussing Diabetes Is Fake, Audio Is AI-Generated

New Delhi (Vishvas News) – A video featuring Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, is going viral on social media. In the video, he is allegedly speaking about diabetes, with claims suggesting that he has shared insights on overcoming the condition.

Vishvas News investigated the viral video and found the claim to be false. The viral video is created using Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the audio has been digitally altered.

What is viral?

Facebook user Axel Powlowski shared the viral video (archive link), where Mukesh Ambani can allegedly be heard saying, “Hourly fluctuations in sugar levels drain your energy, and diabetic weight gain feels like a lifelong prison. But imagine if you open your fridge and find the one thing that can cure diabetes forever. Believe me, if you don’t watch this video until the end, you will regret it. Investigation

To investigate this post, we conducted a Google reverse image search using screenshots from the viral video. This led us to the full video, uploaded on Reliance’s official YouTube channel, Reliance Updates, on December 15, 2020. The video opens with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, followed by Mukesh Ambani. Around the 4-minute mark, the segment seen in the viral clip appears. It’s evident that Ambani is discussing digital India and the COVID-19 situation, and there is no mention of diabetes anywhere in the video19. The video description states: “Sh Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Ltd, and Sh Mark Zuckerberg, Chairman and CEO, Facebook share their excitement about India, and how digital can accelerate economic progress.”

We also found this video of the conversation between Mark Zuckerberg and Mukesh Ambani on CNN-News18’s official YouTube channel,  uploaded on December 15, 2020. The description read, “Watch Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in an EXCLUSIVE conversation with RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani on India’s digital dream and shaping India’s growth amid a pandemic and how Facebook is fuelling this growth.”

We contacted Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU), an initiative of the Misinformation Combat Alliance, to verify the viral video. DAU’s expert team analysed the video using multiple AI-based tools to check the audio. Here are the key findings they shared:

Hive AI: Detected the entire audio track as AI-generated, with a confidence score exceeding 0.99.

Deepfake-O-Meter: Out of several classifiers used, only two gave high-confidence scores, while the rest showed low reliability.

ElevenLabs Speech Classifier: The analysis suggests the audio was likely generated using this platform.

Hiya: Confirmed that the audio was either generated or significantly modified using AI.

We also reached out to Azahar Machwe, a researcher specialising in AI and emerging technologies, who confirmed that the audio was AI-generated.

Facebook user ‘Axel Powlowski’, who shared the viral video, has 411 followers.

Conclusion: Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that the audio attributed to Mukesh Ambani in the viral video is not real and has been created using AI.
