Fact Check: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Did Not Make The Viral Statement About Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A statement attributed to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is going viral on social media, with claims that he reportedly said that Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the future and ridiculing him would be costly. He added that Rahul’s family history shows it would be unwise to take Rahul lightly.
Many social media users are widely sharing this statement, thinking it to be true. Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found the claim to be fake. Bhagwat has never made any such statement about Rahul, as claimed in the viral post.
What is going viral
On August 17, Facebook page Majo Sharma shared a post claiming, “Now Bhagwat Ji has made a statement as he felt it was right. Now, BJP friends will keep discussing that if they support the statement, it is right and if they oppose the statement, then it is a problem. Bhagwat Ji should not have spoken even this much truth.”
The post quoted Bhagwat, stating, “Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the future. Making fun of him too much will prove costly. His family history tells us that it will not be right to take Rahul lightly!”

Investigation
Vishvas News investigated the viral statement linked to Bhagwat using Google Open Search Tool. A keyword search yielded no credible news report supporting the claim.
Continuing the investigation, we contacted Rajiv Tuli, associated with the Sangh, who confirmed that Bhagwat has never made any such statement about Rahul, and the viral claim is fake.
Our investigation confirms that the RSS chief has never made any such statement. Had he done so, it would certainly have been reported in the media. The claim attributed to Bhagwat is completely fake.
Lastly, we scanned the Facebook account of the user who posted the fake post and found that the user identifies as a resident of Patna, Bihar and has over 900 followers
Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found the viral post to be fake. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has never made any statement suggesting that Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the future, and mocking him would be costly.
