Social media users are sharing a video clip of Rahul Gandhi’s press conference where he can be seen leaving the press conference in the middle, saying that he will not answer any question that is deliberately aimed at deviating from the ‘issue’. The video is being falsely claimed as a recent recording of the press conference when Rahul delivered a stern message to the media persons during the press conference.
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found this claim to be misleading. During a 2024 press conference on Manipur violence, Rahul walked out midway, accusing certain journalists of diverting attention from the issue. This old video clip is being shared with the false claims that it represents his message to journalists.

Social media user ‘Sunil Singh‘ has shared the viral video, with the caption, “Great Rahul Gandhi has given a royal beating to these buffoon media people today. This is a clear and loud message..
“If you ask deviant questions, no such questions will be answered! Questions will be asked only on issues related to the public. Your agenda will not work in front of Rahul Gandhi. #RahulGandhi #GodiMedia”
Investigation
Based on the viral video, we conducted a keyword search and found the video of this press conference on Rahul’s official X handle, shared on July 8, 2024.
We also found this video clip in several other news reports, which was shared on July 8, 2024. This video was shared on the official YouTube channel of Hindustan Times on July 9, 2024.
According to the information given, during the press conference, Rahul attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Manipur violence, and later, he suddenly walked out midway, calling the questions asked by some journalists a distraction from the ‘issue’.

According to the information given, during the press conference in Imphal, when journalists asked questions after Rahul finished speaking, he responded by saying, “…please respect my words. I have come here to give a clear message, I am not interested in answering such questions which are designed to divert the issue…I have given my statement.” After this, while leaving he said, “Manipur is one of the most beautiful states of India.”
Our investigation confirms that the viral video is not recent but from a press conference held a year ago. We contacted Dainik Jagran’s Associate Editor, Sanjay Mishra, regarding the viral video. He confirmed, “This video of Rahul Gandhi’s press conference is not recent, but quite old.”
The Facebook user who shared the viral video with the misleading claim has around 80000 followers.
