New Delhi (Vishvas News). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test undergraduate (NEET UG) paper leak case, and several accused have been arrested. Meanwhile, a video of senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is going viral, where he can be heard saying, “There will be no resignations, this is not the UPA government, this is the NDA government.” Some users on social media are linking this video to the NEET issue and making it viral. It is being claimed that Rajnath made this statement in response to demands for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET-UG 2026 question paper leak.

Vishvas News investigated and found the claim to be false. An old video of Rajnath is now being circulated with a false context to spread misinformation. The viral video is a small excerpt from a press conference on June 24, 2015.

What is going viral?

Facebook user ‘Ravi Kumar Huddi Baba’ posted a video of Rajnath Singh in a group on 13 May 2026, claiming, “Listen to what shameless Rajnath Singh is saying… Some traitors are demanding resignation from the Education Minister of the Modi government in the NEET paper leak case. So Rajnath Singh is saying that let me tell them that this is not the UPA government where the minister takes responsibility and resigns. This is the NDA government, our Modiji’s government. Our minister should stick to his chair. Do whatever you want to do!”

Several other users are sharing the video with similar claims. An archived version of the post can be seen here.

To determine the veracity of the viral video, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords. We found no credible news reports confirming Rajnath’s statement regarding the Education Minister’s resignation over the NEET issue. If this had been true, his statement would certainly have been reported.

Rajnath Singh’s social media accounts were also searched, and we found no such statement or video there either.

Vishvas News’ investigation uncovered the complete video of Rajnath’s press conference. On 24 June 2015, Rajnath and Ravi Shankar Prasad were addressing a cabinet briefing when a journalist captured an incident during the event. Responding to a question about his resignation, Rajnath made a statement. The full video is also available on the BJP’s YouTube channel, which was streamed on 24 June 2015. After the 23-minute mark, Rajnath’s now viral statement can be heard.

During our investigation, we found an old news item on the Navbharat Times website, dated 24 June 2015, which stated, “When asked about the ministers embroiled in controversy, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that no minister will resign. He added that this is an NDA government, not a UPA government. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Ravi Shankar Prasad were briefing the cabinet on decisions taken. During this, they were asked about the resignations of controversial ministers. In response, they said, ‘No, no…’ Ministers don’t resign over this, brother. This is an NDA government, not a UPA government.”

Similarly, on 24 June 2015, an NDTV report stated, “Rajnath Singh said there would be no resignations. This is an NDA government, not a UPA government. Singh made this statement in response to a journalist’s question.”

Our investigation has revealed that Rajnath’s old statement from 2015 is now being made viral with a false claim linking it to the NEET controversy.

Vishvas News further investigated and contacted BJP Uttar Pradesh spokesperson Avneesh Tyagi. He stated that the viral video dates back to 2015, which has been edited and shared with a false claim.

Lastly, we scanned the Facebook account of the user who posted the fake post and found that the user is described as a Delhi resident and has over 5000 followers.

What is the context?

Following confirmation of the leakage of a large number of questions in the NEET-UG exam for admission to UG medical courses, the central government decided to cancel the entire exam on May 12, 2026, nine days after it was conducted, and reconduct it. The CBI is also investigating the matter, and several people have been arrested so far. According to a Dainik Jagran report, the NEET-UG was conducted on 3 May at approximately 5500 examination centres in 565 cities across India and abroad.
