New Delhi (Vishvas News): Recently, Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal reportedly suffered a heart attack during a match, prompting several Indian celebrities to post about his health. Amid this, many social media users have been sharing his photo with misleading claims that he passed away due to a heart attack.
Vishvas News investigated the viral claim and found it to be fake. Tamim Iqbal has not passed away. He was hospitalised after suffering a heart attack, but according to reports, his condition is improving.
What is in the viral post?
Sharing the viral post, the Facebook user wrote, “It has been heard that Bangladesh cricketer @Tamim Iqbal has passed away. He died due to a heart attack. May God grant him the highest place in Jantul Firdaus and give strength to his family to bear the loss. He was a good cricketer as well as a good human being. I am surprised at his departure from this world. May Allah grant him a place in heaven. Ina lil laahe ve Ina lil laahe raje un.”

Investigation
We began our investigation by searching for the news report on the incident. Our search led us to multiple news websites covering Tamim Iqbal’s heart attack. According to a BBC report dated March 24, 2025, “Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal was given immediate medical attention after he suffered a heart attack during the match and is under close observation of doctors in the hospital. The former Bangladesh captain was participating as captain of a team in the Dhaka Premier Division League cricket match when the incident occurred.”
According to a March 24 report on the Sportstar.thehindu website, “Dr Debashish Chowdhury, chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, said, “He underwent initial checks at a local hospital, where mild heart issues were suspected. Efforts were made to transport him to Dhaka, but on the way to the helipad, he experienced severe chest pain and had to be rushed back. Medical reports later confirmed it was a massive heart attack,” said Dr Debashish Chowdhury, chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.”
According to a March 24 report by Dhaka Tribune, hospital sources confirmed that a stent was placed in his heart.
According to a March 25, 2025, report by Al-Jazeera, club official Tariqul Islam stated, “He is now better. He talked to his family members and also walked briefly at the hospital.” Mohammedan physiotherapist Enamul Haque stated that Tamim was stable and would likely be transferred to another medical facility soon. “We had to go to the hospital quickly to save his life, and luckily, we did that.” Enamul told AFP.”

A social media scan of the Facebook user ‘Dabbir Ahmed’ who shared the fake post, revealed that the user has over 5000 followers.
