Fact Check: Old Video Of Gaza Attack Falsely Shared As Footage From ‘Operation Sindoor’

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Unrelated videos are going viral on social media under the false claim that they depict footage from ‘Operation Sindoor’. One such video, widely shared, was claimed to be part of the ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found it to be misleading. The viral video is old footage from an attack in Gaza, now being falsely linked to ‘Operation Sindoor’, in an attempt to spread misinformation.

It is noteworthy that India recently launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. As part of this operation, Indian forces carried out air strikes targeting nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), resulting in the elimination of several terrorists and their camps.

What is going viral

Instagram handle Ajit Bainsala posted a video on May 7, 2025 with the caption, “Under ‘Operation Sindoor’, air strikes were carried out in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, Tehra Kalan, Sialkot, Barnala, Kotli and two places in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Proud of the Indian Army.”

Investigation

Vishvas News first used the Google Lens tool to verify the authenticity of the viral video. Several key frames of the viral video were extracted and reverse-searched. We found this video uploaded on an older post on X by the Quds News Network. The post described the footage as scenes of violent bombing by the Israeli forces near the Indonesian hospital in the northern Gaza Strip. Several people have been reported dead and injured, most of them were children. This video was originally posted on November 9, 2023.

We also found the original video on Al Jazeera’s YouTube channel. Its caption stated that violent airstrikes took place around an Indonesian hospital in the northern Gaza Strip. This video was also uploaded on November 9, 2023.

During the investigation, Vishvas News contacted Israeli fact-checker Uria Bar Mer, who confirmed that the video originated from Gaza.

Further analysis revealed that the user who shared the viral post, Ajit Bainsala, has over 50000 followers.

Conclusion: Our investigation revealed that misleading claims are being spread by circulating old videos of Gaza, falsely attributing them to India’s recent air strike.
