Fact Check: Woman Dancing In Viral Video Is Not Mumbai Indians’ Rising Star Vignesh Puthur’s Mother
Vishvas News’ investigation confirmed that the woman dancing in the video is not cricketer Vignesh Puthur’s mother.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Vignesh Puthur, the rising star of the Mumbai Indians (MI), dazzled fans with his impressive IPL debut against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23, 2025, taking two crucial wickets, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dubey. Following the match, a video of a woman dancing joyfully began circulating online, with claims that she was Puthur’s mother, celebrating his success.
Vishvas News investigated the viral claim and found it to be fake. The woman in the video is not Puthur’s mother.
What is going viral?
Instagram user ‘bigbreaking.in’ shared the viral video on March 29, 2025, with the caption, “Vignesh Puthur’s Mother Dances with Joy as She Sees Her Son’s Performance.”

Investigation
To verify the viral claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords. This led us to a report on Marunadan TV’s YouTube channel dated March 25, 2025, featuring a picture of Puthur’s parents. According to the report, his father is an auto driver, and the woman identified as his mother looks different from the woman seen in the viral video.
Additionally, we found an interview with Puthur’s parents on OneIndia Malayalam’s YouTube channel, uploaded on March 24, 2025. In this video, Puthur’s mother’s facial features and appearance do not match those of the woman seen in the viral video.
We also found an interview with Puthur’s parents on REPORTER LIVE’s YouTube channel, uploaded on March 24, 2025. In this video as well, it is evident that Puthur’s mother’s facial features and appearance are different from those of the woman in the viral video.
To further verify this, we contacted Reporter Live’s Senior Reporter Ashkar Ali, who interviewed Puthur’s parents. He confirmed that the woman in the video is not Puthur’s mother.

Although Vishvas News does not verify the identity of the woman in the viral video, it is evident that she is not Puthur’s mother.
Finally, we scanned the Instagram account of the user who shared the video with the false claim and found that the user has over 5000 followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation confirmed that the woman dancing in the video is not cricketer Vignesh Puthur’s mother.
