Fact Check: Old Video Of Police Beating Youths In Indore Falsely Shared As Incident From UP

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video is going viral on various social media, featuring policemen beating some youths. Some users are claiming that this video is from UP.
Vishvas News investigated the viral video and found the claim to be misleading. The video dates back to 2015 and is from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. However, some users are sharing it with the false claim that it is from UP.
What is going viral?
On March 7, 2025, Facebook user Aman Gupta shared the viral video with the caption, “How costly it can be to tease girls in UP. Even seven generations of these goons will remember this.”
X user Dilip Kumar Singh also shared this video with the same claim.
Investigation
To verify the viral video, we captured several screenshots of the video and searched them through Google Lens. We found a report on hindustantimes.com, published on May 7, 2015. According to the information given, the video is from the anti-goonda drive of Indore Police.
During our investigation, we found the viral video on the official YouTube channel of ABP NEWS, uploaded on May 29, 2015. According to the information given, this video is from Indore, not UP.
During our investigation, we found a post related to the viral video on the X-handle of UPPOLICE FACT CHECK. In the post dated January 17, 2020, it stated, “The incident shown in the video
Not related to @UPPolice Please do not spread misleading propaganda!”
The viral video has been circulating on several Facebook and YouTube channels for nearly a decade.
We shared the video with Ashwin Rathore, principal correspondent at Indore Naiduniya. He confirmed that the video is old and is from Indore.
Finally, we scanned the account of the user who shared the video and found that the user describes himself as a resident of Lucknow and has over 3000 followers
Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found the viral post to be misleading. An old video from Indore, Madhya Pradesh with a false claim is being falsely circulated as an incident from UP. The video has no connection with UP.
