Fact Check: Viral Video of Burial Dispute Dates Back to 2017, Unrelated to Waqf Amendment Act

New Delhi (Vishvas News): After receiving presidential approval, the Waqf Amendment Bill has officially become law. Following this, a video has been circulating on social media showing a crowd gathered around a deceased person, claiming the body was left outside a cemetery for three days due to denied burial permission. Some users are falsely linking the incident to the recent approval of the Waqf Amendment Bill.
Vishvas News investigated the claim and found it to be false. The viral video dates back to 2017 and is unrelated to the Waqf Amendment Act.

Investigation
Vishvas News began its investigation by extracting key frames from the viral video and searching them using the Google Lens tool. We found the full video uploaded on actor Ajaz Khan’s official Facebook page on December 22, 2017.
We also found the same video uploaded on a Facebook page named Saheb Khan on 22 December 2022.
Additionally, the video had been widely shared across multiple platforms back in December 2017.
After carefully analysing the video, we noticed references to ‘Uttam Nagar’ and ‘Kakrola More’. Using these keywords along with the time-based search tool, we came across related news coverage. A report published by Jagran Josh, dated December 28, 2017, stated that the Delhi High Court had ruled against using government land for graveyards without official approval. The court rejected a petition filed by an NGO challenging the construction of a graveyard on government land in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi.
To verify the claim, we reached out to Gautam Mishra, a Dainik Jagran correspondent covering West Delhi. He confirmed that no recent incident matching the viral video’s description has taken place at Kakrola Mor.
Facebook user Ishaq Mohammed, who shared the viral clip with a fake claim, has around 300 followers.
