New Delhi (Vishvas News): Amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, a video showing a crashed fighter jet is being widely shared on social media. The post claims to show an Indian fighter aircraft shot down in Pakistan.
Vishvas News investigated and found this claim to be false. The circulated picture is AI-generated and is unrelated to the current Indo-Pak conflict situation.
What is viral?
Instagram user innocent._.gourav_sharma_up_84 shared the viral video (archive link) on May 10, 2025, with the caption, “Plane has crashed in Pakistan.” The video features a crashed fighter jet engulfed in flames, bearing an Indian flag engraved on its fuselage.
Investigation
Upon close analysis of the video, several irregularities became apparent to Vishvas News. For example, the faces of the bystanders appear to fade or glitch during movement, and the smoke from the wreckage appears animated, raising suspicion that the clip is AI-generated.
To verify this, we analysed the screenshots from the video using the AI-detection tool Hive Moderation, which indicated a 99.7% probability of the content being generated by AI.

Another tool, Sightengine, flagged the content as likely AI-generated with a 99% probability score.

The AI-detection tool ‘Is It AI ‘ also indicated a 99% probability of it being AI-generated.

To validate these findings, we shared the viral post with Dr. Azahar Machwe, a PhD and an expert in AI and deepfakes, who confirmed that the video is AI-generated. Describing it as ‘clearly fake’, he pointed out noticeably distorted human figures, inconsistencies in the plane detailing, and flaws in visual perspective as clear indicators of fabricated content.
Mis/disinformation often gains traction during trending or highly volatile situations. On April 22, 2025, following the Pahalgam terror attack, India retaliated 15 days later, conducting air strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor,’ targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Amid recent rising tensions between India and Pakistan, several fake narratives have been circulating online. Vishvas News continues to investigate and debunk these claims, which can be accessed here.
Instagram user innocent._.gourav_sharma_up_84, who shared the viral video, has over 2.5 lakh users.
Conclusion: The viral video claiming to show an Indian fighter jet crash in Pakistan is not real. Vishvas News has confirmed that it is an AI-generated clip, being shared to spread misinformation amid the ongoing India-Pak tensions.
