Fact Check: Woman Caught Driving On Railway Track In Telangana Is Not Muslim; Viral Claim Is Misleading

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A recent incident from Telangana, where a woman was seen driving a car on a railway track, has gone viral on social media. Now, a video related to this incident is being shared with the claim that the woman involved is a Muslim and her name is Fatima.

Vishvas News found in its investigation that the viral claim is false. The woman in the video is named Vomika Soni, not Fatima.

Facebook user ‘Hemant Sharma HINDU Leader‘ (archive link) shared this video on June 30, 2025, and wrote, “Leave aside Abdul, Fatima is also not forgetting her purpose. But how did she come here….. This video is being said to be from Telangana, would you like to say something? ”

Investigation

We started our investigation with a keyword search. We found several news reports on this incident.

News agency ANI’s June 28, 2025, report stated, “A 34-year-old woman from Lucknow was rescued by authorities after she drove her car onto a railway track near Nagulapally Railway Station in an alleged attempt to end her life, Vikarabad police said.
The woman identified as Vomika Soni was later apprehended and has been admitted to a hospital.”

Another report published in Hindustan Times on June 27, 2025, also identified the woman as Vamika Soni. According to the news report, “The Telangana police have arrested a 34-year-old woman for damaging public property after she drove her car on the railway tracks near Shankarpalli in the Rangareddy district for about 7kms on Thursday morning, disrupting train services for at least an hour, officials said. The incident happened at around 7am between Nagulapalli and Shankarpalli stations when the woman, identified as Vomika Sony from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, suddenly entered the railway tracks at a level-crossing gate between Shankarpally-Nagulapally stations and continued driving her car, a Kia Sonet, despite attempts by railway staff to stop her, a railway official said.”

For further confirmation, we spoke to Shankarpalli Police Inspector K Srinivas Goud. He confirmed that the name of the woman involved in this case is Vomika Soni and she is from Lucknow.

Finally, we scanned the profile of the Facebook user ‘Hemant Sharma HINDU Leader’ who shared the misleading claim. The user has more than 2 lakh followers on Facebook.

Conclusion: Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that the viral claim about the woman driving on a railway track in Telangana being a Muslim named Fatima is false. Her actual name is Vomika Soni.
