New Delhi (Vishvas News): Heavy rains has caused widespread destruction across Himachal Pradesh (HP). Cloudbursts and flooding have been reported in several areas. A video is going viral on social media showing water sweeping away houses and trees. Some users have shared the video claiming it shows floods in the Indian hill state.
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found the viral claim to be false. The viral video is of a landslide in China in July 2025, which is now being shared as if it was from HP.
What’s in the viral post?
Facebook page Punjab Singh (archived link) shared the viral video with the caption, “Bad condition of the mountain.”
The video reads: “Don’t go there Punjabis, the mountains of Himachal are angry”, implying nature’s fury has been unleashed in the state.
Investigations
To verify the authenticity of the viral video, we captured screenshots and conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens. This led us to a related news report on the website .lanacion.com.ar/, published on July 7, 2025. The report stated, “A landslide completely destroyed a village in Danba City, Sichuan Province, China. Several houses and trees were swept away due to recent heavy rains.”
The viral video was found on the official X handle of Sergio Almazán. The incident is identified as having occurred in China on July 5, 2025.
The video was also found on a YouTube channel called Unstoppable Weather, uploaded on July 6, 2025, which stated, “A major disaster occurred in China on July 4, 2025 when a massive landslide occurred in the villages of Danba County, Sichuan.”

We shared the video with the State Editor of Dainik Jagran – HP, Navneet Sharma, who confirmed that the video is not from the state. The language spoken in the clip is different. While it is true that heavy rains have caused significant disruptions across many parts of HP, this video is not related to the state.
We conducted a Google search for news related to HP floods and came across a report published on the Punjabi Jagran website on July 14, 2025. The report stated, “The Kiratpur-Manali four-lane road has been closed again due to debris falling from a hill in Char Mile, Himachal. After about 29 hours of effort, the road was restored for one-way traffic late Sunday evening, but a massive landslide at 11 pm on Monday and again at 8 am on Monday increased the difficulties of the administration and travelers.”
Lastly, we scanned the Facebook profile of the user who shared the video and found that the user identifies as a resident of Ludhiana and has around 5000 followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News, in its investigation, found the viral claim false. This video of the devastating flood is not from Himachal Pradesh, but from China. In July 2025, a severe landslide took place in Danba City, Sichuan Province, China. The same video is now being shared misleadingly as one from HP.
