New Delhi (Vishvas News): A picture of former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar has once again gone viral on social media. In the image, President Draupadi Murmu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and  Dhankhar are seen standing with folded hands, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands in front of them. The photo is being shared with sarcastic remarks, claiming that top constitutional figures are bowing before the PM.

Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that the viral claim is misleading. The photo is not recent; it is nearly two years old. It was taken during an event organised to mark the death anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. After the official photo shoot, the dignitaries greeted each other while leaving the venue. This particular moment was captured and is now being shared with a false narrative.

What is going viral?

Sharing the viral picture, the Facebook user wrote in the caption, “ Falling standards of constitutional posts! The given photo includes President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. According to the Constitution, these three posts are above Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but see in the photo how all three are standing in a queue with folded hands in front of Narendra Modi. It is true that as an administrator, the post of Prime Minister is the most powerful, but the Constitution states that these three posts are above him. Whenever these three or any one of them comes in front of the PM, the Prime Minister should stand up and fold his hands to respect them, but the opposite has happened. These three are standing in front of him with folded hands. This photo is just an example of disrespect for constitutional posts in India today.”

Investigation

To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords. We found a related video on PM Modi’s official YouTube channel, shared on December 6, 2023. According to the available information, this video is of an event held to mark the death anniversary of Dr Ambedkar. Around the 8.40-minute mark, PM Modi is seen arriving at the venue and offering flowers to Dr Ambedkar’s photo and paying his respects. Following this, he greets and poses for photos with the dignitaries. As the event concluded, everyone exchanged greetings with folded hands, and PM Modi left. A still from this moment is now being shared with a misleading narrative.

According to a report published on Dainik Jagran’s website on July 22, 2025, “Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President on Monday (July 21, 2025). He took this decision on the first day of the monsoon session. In a letter to the President, he cited his health reasons. After his resignation, political turmoil has intensified in the country.”

This photo has previously gone viral on social media with a misleading claim. We had investigated it at that time and revealed the truth. During that investigation, we had also contacted Uttar Pradesh BJP spokesperson Avnish Tyagi for clarification. He had said that the viral claim was false and was being shared to tarnish the image.

Finally, we scanned the Facebook account of the user who shared the photo with the false claim and found that the user identifies as a resident of Uttar Pradesh and has 66000 followers. The user shares posts inspired by an ideology.

Conclusion: Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that the viral claim is misleading. The image in question is not recent but is around two years old. It was taken during an event held to mark the death anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. As the attendees were leaving after a group photo, they exchanged greetings. A still from that brief moment is now being shared with a false narrative.
