What is the viral post?
The Facebook page “Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi Unofficial Group” shared this video on November 7, 2025, with the caption, “Those who can’t respect the 52-second national anthem, how will they respect the country?”

Investigation
To verify the viral video, we examined it closely and noticed a screen with the text: “Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from Netaji Indoor Stadium will start distributing widow pension to new applicants Date: March 23, 2022. Time: 1 pm.” This detail helped pinpoint the exact event.


Using keyword searches, we found the original video uploaded on the Getty Images website on March 23, 2022. In the footage, Mamata can be clearly seen standing as the instrumental version of the Indian national anthem plays, leaving only after it concludes. The video’s caption confirms it was filmed at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata during an event for the widow pension scheme.
We also found the same video on several other platforms, where Mamata can be seen standing while the Indian national anthem plays in the background.
Dainik Jagran’s senior journalist JK Bajpai in Kolkata also confirmed that the video dates back to 2022 and that the claim of Mamata walking away during the national anthem is fake.
Lastly, we scanned the profile of the user making the fake claim, “Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi Unofficial Group,” and found that the group has approximately six lakh followers.
