Fact Check: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Did Not Make Statements On ‘Saffronising’ The Army; Viral Video Is Fake

Vishvas News’s investigation proved the viral post to be fake. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has not given any such statement as shown in the viral video. A different voice has been added to his original video.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is going viral on social media these days. In the clip, he is allegedly seen speaking about the ‘saffronisation’ of the Indian Army. The video portrays him advocating for the removal of non-Hindus from the military.

Vishvas News investigated the video and found it to be fake. The viral clip was created by tampering with a video of a speech the RSS chief delivered in Kolkata on 21 December 2025. Bhagwat never made any such statement as depicted in the viral video.

What is going viral?

Facebook user Bamcef Kinwat District shared the video of the RSS chief. In the video, Bhagwat is shown saying: “We have given our decision to Modi, if the Indian Army is to be kept pure, it must be saffronised. All those ‘untouchables’ who are hollowing out our army from within must be removed. Modi held my knees and said he is under pressure, but I clearly stated that if you do not remove more than 50% of non-caste Hindus from the Indian Army by 2028, then understand—Modi goes, Yogi comes. Nitish Kumar is our boy, and we have told Modi that if Nitish Kumar’s resignation is sought, your resignation will be next.”

Captions such as “Remove EVM” are overlaid on the video, along with mentions of a nationwide mega-rally on 22 February. An archive of the post can be seen here.

Investigation

Vishvas News first listened carefully to the viral video. Mohan Bhagwat’s voice in the clip appeared distinct from his actual voice. Based on this, several keyframes were extracted and searched using the Google Lens tool. CNN-News18 had uploaded the original video on 21 October 2025. In this footage, which lasts over 10 minutes, Bhagwat does not mention anything resembling the viral clip at any point. We also observed the channel’s logo on both videos.

During the search, the original video was also found on ANI News’ YouTube channel. It was broadcast live from Kolkata on 21 December 2025.

Vishvas News checked the audio using Aurigin.ai, a Swiss deep-tech company specialising in advanced audio deepfake detection. The tool indicated a 59% probability that the audio was AI-generated.

The AI detection tool Truth Scan indicated a 99 percent probability that the audio was AI-generated.

Vishvas News contacted Rajiv Tuli, former Delhi provincial head of publicity for the RSS and currently the chairman of Suruchi Prakashan, an auxiliary publication of the RSS, regarding the video of the RSS chief. He called it fake, stating that Mohan Bhagwat has never given any such statement as shown in the viral video.
