New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video showing a man in traditional attire confronting young boys on a football field is going viral on social media. The footage is being shared with the claim that it originates from Assam, India, and depicts a Muslim man prohibiting boys from wearing shorts. The viral posts further claim he is forcing the children to play in a ‘lungi’ instead.

Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that this viral video is from Bangladesh and has no connection to India or Assam.

What is in the viral post?

Facebook user ‘Shrimati শিবানন্দ দাস‘ shared the viral post on January 30, with the caption, “Assam: A Muslim has banned boys from wearing shorts while playing football because it exposes their bodies, which is too risqué. Instead, he insists they play in their traditional attire, the lungi.”

The viral video is being shared across social media platforms with the same claim.

Investigation

To begin our investigation, we uploaded the Bengali video to the tactiq.io tool. The transcript reveals a man instructing some boys to wear appropriate clothes that are not lifted above the knees. He asked them to change into pyjamas or suitable clothes, as playing in half pants or a lungi is inappropriate. The full transcript can be read here.

We furthered our investigation by searching the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to a video uploaded to a Bangladeshi Facebook page called ‘Throw In’ on January 31, 2026.

We found the full video on a verified YouTube channel called ‘Mk Rahman Official’, uploaded on January 28, 2026.

We also found several other videos uploaded by the man seen in the viral video on the same YouTube channel, which runs from Bangladesh. We also found a link to a Facebook page, ‘Best of Time’, on this channel.

This Facebook page also stated it was operated from Bangladesh.

To verify the authenticity of the viral video, we attempted to contact Mk Rahman Official, the account behind the viral video. We will update this story as soon as we receive a response.

Speaking about the viral video, Bangladeshi journalist Sadiqur Rahman said, “This video went viral recently. It’s from Bangladesh. In it, a madrasa teacher is reprimanding a child for not wearing shorts.”

Lastly, we conducted a social media scan of the Facebook user who shared the fake post and found that the user is a resident of Delhi and has 14000 followers.
