Fact Check: Viral Image of Anna Hazare at ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ Presser is AI-Generated

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Spokesperson of the “Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), a satirical campaign launched after a controversial remark by Supreme Court Chief Justice Surya Kant, held a press conference to announce the protest at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. A photo is circulating on social media, allegedly showing social activist Anna Hazare at the press conference. Some users are sharing the image and claiming that Anna also attended the CJP press conference.
Vishvas News investigated and found the viral image to be AI-generated. Anna did not attend the CJP press conference. The viral claim is false.
What is the viral post?
Facebook user ‘Dr Nripendra Narayan Singh’ shared a photo (archive link) on June 4, 2026, writing, “Indian Democracy: I knew from the beginning that this was all pre-planned. The BJP’s popularity was declining, and the Congress was beginning to assert its influence again. So Kejriwal orchestrated this CJP drama to weaken the Congress once again. Just like the IAC movement with Anna Hazare, it’s happening again… This is IAC 2.0. Kejriwal was never against the BJP; he was always against the Congress. He never wanted Rahul Gandhi to become Prime Minister.”
Investigation
We conducted a reverse image search of the viral image using Google Lens. The image from the press conference was posted on the Instagram account of CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, ‘ashutosh_ranka‘, on June 3, 2026. The original image doesn’t show Anna in the frame.
The Tribune’s YouTube channel also broadcast this press conference live on June 3, 2026, and Anna was not present there.
A report published on The Hindu’s website on June 6, 2026, also featured a photo of the CJP press conference, in which Anna was not present. According to the report, the CJP held its first press conference in Delhi on June 3, 2026. Spokespersons Saurav Das, Vijeta Dahiya, and Ashutosh Ranka protested at Jantar Mantar on June 6, 2026, and Anna was nowhere mentioned in this news.
The viral photo was posted on June 4, 2026, on CJP spokesperson Saurav Das’s X account, calling it fake.
This makes it clear that the viral image is fake. To determine if it was AI-generated, we checked it with AI detection tools‘Site Engine’ and ‘Undetectable’. Both indicated that the image was AI-generated.
We contacted Dainik Jagran Delhi’s chief correspondent, VK Shukla, who confirmed that Anna Hazare did not attend the CJP’s press conference.
What is the context?
The satirical campaign CJP was launched following a comment by Supreme Court Chief Justice Suryakant, who later clarified that his statement was misinterpreted. Under the banner of CJP, a protest was held on June 6, 2026, at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG paper leak and several other issues. According to a report published on Aaj Tak’s website on June 6, 2026, social activist Sonam Wangchuk also participated in the protest.
We finally scanned the Facebook profile of the user who shared the viral photo and found that the user identifies as a resident of Varanasi and has over 7,500 followers. The user seems to be influenced by a specific ideology.
Conclusion: The claim that Anna Hazare attended the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ press conference in Delhi is false. The viral image is AI-generated.
