Fact Check: AI-Generated Images Of Putin’s India Visit Flood Social Media, Here’s The Truth Behind Them

Russian President Vladimir Putin remained in New Delhi during his two-day visit. Viral images claiming to show him visiting Ayodhya and Ujjain with PM Modi, bathing in the Ganges in Varanasi, and reading the Gita on a plane are AI-created.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). After Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two-day visit to India, several pictures of him with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are circulating on social media. The post claims that PM Modi took Putin to Ayodhya and Ujjain. One image shows Putin with PM Modi and Yogi Adityanath at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, another shows the two leaders at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain.

Two more widely shared pictures depict Putin bathing in the Ganga with PM Modi in Varanasi and reading the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita on a plane.

Vishvas News investigated and found all these images to be fake and AI-generated. In reality, Putin remained in New Delhi during his two-day visit.

What is viral?

Social media user Crickett Baazigar shared the viral picture (archive link ) with the caption, “Wow! Modi ji, you even made Putin visit the Ram temple, if he really has any brains…!”

Another user, Shiv Shankar Kushvaha, shared the viral picture (archive link ) with the caption, “Jai Shri Mahakal’ Modi made his friend Putin from Russia visit Mahakal and…!”


Many other users on different social media platforms have shared this photo in the same context.

Investigation

Both viral images claim to show Putin visiting Ayodhya and Ujjain. However, according to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, in a statement issued on November 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit India on December 4 and 5 to attend the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.


According to the detailed information given by the Ministry of External Affairs on its official handle about the agreements made during this visit, “During this two-day visit, Putin will hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”



Overall, Putin stayed in New Delhi during his two-day visit. After landing in Delhi, PM Modi welcomed him at Palam Airport, following which the leaders attended the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit and held bilateral talks at Hyderabad House. They later addressed the India-Russia Business Forum at Bharat Mandapam.

Our investigation revealed that Putin stayed in New Delhi during his two-day visit. Therefore, we suspect the viral images to be AI-generated.

We checked this multimedia with the University of Buffalo’s DeepFake-O-Meter, and several of its detectors confirmed the possibility of AI manipulation of the image.

The GLFF (2024) detector detected a 100%, the Effort (2025) detector confirmed a 60%, and the VeraAI detector confirmed a 70% probability of AI manipulation in this image.

Hive Moderation Detection Tool also confirms that this image is almost 100% likely to be AI-generated. According to Hive’s analysis score, this image is most likely to have been created by Gemini 3.

Second photo: Narendra Modi with Putin at Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain

The VeraAI detector confirms the highest probability of this image being AI-generated, with a score of over 80%. Other AI detection tools also confirmed the likelihood of AI manipulation of this image.

The Hive Moderation Detection tool also confirms that this image is nearly 100% likely to be created by AI. According to Hive’s analysis score, this image is most likely created using Veo3.


Several other images were also circulated, which our investigation found to be AI-created. A photo of Putin bathing in the Ganges in Varanasi with PM Modi and Yogi Adityanath also proved to be fake.

Another photo (archived link ) shows Putin reading the Bhagavad Gita on a plane. Our investigation found this image to be fake, created using AI.


We contacted Madhurendra Kumar, a senior TV journalist covering foreign affairs, who confirmed that Russian President Putin was in New Delhi during his two-day visit. Fact-check reports on similar deepfake multimedia circulating on social media can be found in the AI ​​Check section.
