Fact Check: Deepfake Videos Of PM Modi, Amit Shah, And Jaishankar Circulated From Pakistan
Deepfake videos of PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are being shared with misleading claims by Pakistani users. Additionally, a user from PoK has also shared a fake video of PM Modi to spread misinformation.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Following the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Forces carried out air strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) under ‘Operation Sindoor’ on the intervening night of May 6-7. In response to subsequent air attacks from Pakistan, India’s air defence system effectively neutralised the threat.
Amid these developments, several Pakistani social media users shared alleged videos of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The post falsely claimed that these leaders have publicly accepted defeat.
Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that all three videos were deepfakes, created using AI tools for propaganda purposes. Additionally, an edited video of PM Modi was circulated with a misleading narrative.
Viral Post
Facebook user Zahoor Khan shared the alleged video of PM Modi on May 10 (archive link) with the caption, “The impact of Operation Banyan Mursoos, Modi cried. Should we accept Modi’s apology!!!!!” (Translation)
Facebook user Shahzad Younas Sheikh PTI shared an alleged video of Amit Shah on May 10 (archive link) with the caption, “Breaking. After Jaishankar and Colonel Sofia, Amit Shah has also accepted defeat. India is apologising.”
Facebook user Shahzad Younas Sheikh PTI also shared the video (archive link) on May 10 and claimed that Jaishankar has apologised.
Facebook user Mirpur Ajk also shared an alleged video (archive link) of PM Modi and claimed that he has apologised.
Investigation
To verify the viral claims, we began by conducting a keyword search on Google, but did not find any media reports supporting them. If this had happened, they would have been covered by the media.
Upon carefully analysing the first three videos, we noticed unusually high brightness and unnatural lip movements, both common indicators of AI-generated deepfakes. The fourth video, upon review, appeared to be edited rather than AI-generated.
After this, we checked all four videos one by one.
First video
We also contacted our partner Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU), an initiative of Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA), regarding the viral video. DAU’s expert team analysed the video and found strong indications that the entire audio track has been AI-generated. Hive AI’s deepfake detection tool indicated the video to be AI-manipulated.
Further analysis using DeepFake-O-Meter showed that three audio classifiers indicated that the audio was synthetic.
This makes it clear that the viral video attributed to PM Modi is a deepfake.
Second video
Next, we analysed the alleged video of Amit Shah. Hive AI’s audio detector found the entire audio track to be AI-tampered, while the Deepfake detector found several segments of the video to be AI-tampered.
Further testing with Deepfake-O-Meter, six out of seven audio classifiers flagged the audio as synthetic.
This shows that the deepfake video being made viral as Amit Shah’s statement, is misleading.
Third video
Hive AI’s audio classifier found a 43-second segment of the audio track to be ‘Not AI’, while the Deepfake Detector identified several segments of the video to be AI-probable.
PIB Fact Check’s X handle also described the video as AI-created and part of propaganda.
Our investigation revealed that the viral video attributed to Jaishankar is AI-generated.
Fourth video
To investigate the second alleged video of PM Modi, we captured a screenshot and conducted a Google Lens search. This led us to a related video posted on the Facebook page of Hindustan Times on May 7. In the clip, PM Modi is seen addressing the Global Conference on Space Exploration 2025 via video conferencing. The accompanying caption states that, “PM Modi gave his first public speech after the Indian Army attacked Pakistan in the early hours of May 7 to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack. During this time PM Modi did not speak about the air strike.”
Similarities can be seen in both videos.
This confirms that the voice in the video has been altered and the video has been shared with a fake claim.
We contacted BJP national spokesperson Vijay Sonkar Shastri, who confirmed that the videos are fake.
While addressing the nation on the night of May 12, PM Modi stated that India has currently postponed further actions against Pakistan. He also emphasised that any future communication with Pakistan would focus solely on terrorism and PoK.
Social media scanning revealed that all four users promoting the videos are supporters of Pakistan, three are based in Pakistan, while one user is from PoK.
Conclusion: Deepfake videos of PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are being shared with misleading claims by Pakistani users. Additionally, a user from PoK has also shared a fake video of PM Modi to spread misinformation.
