Fact Check: Edited Photo Of Lalu Yadav In Tears Shared With Misleading Claims About 10 Circular Road
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that this post is fake. The viral photo is edited. The news of Lalu Yadav vacating his bungalow is true, but the picture of him crying is the morphed version of an old image.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A post is going viral on social media claiming that RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav could not hold back his tears while leaving his government bungalow (10 Circular Road, Patna) after 20 years. The picture shows Yadav crying, with his son Tej Pratap Yadav standing beside him.
Vishvas News’ investigation found this claim to be misleading. The viral picture is not real, but digitally edited. The original footage is from January 2025, and he was not crying in it.
What is in the viral post?
Facebook user Rajiv Raj shared the viral picture on January 4, 2025, with the caption, “Lalu Yadav’s tears could not stop while leaving Rabri Devi’s residence. The Lalu family had been living in this bungalow for 20 years. Tej Pratap Yadav was also seen with him. #TejPratapYadav #LaluYadav”
Investigation
To verify the claim, we performed a Google Reverse Image Search. This led us to the original footage in an Instagram Reel posted by user anilsamrat_10 on April 10, 2025, where it can be clearly seen that Yadav is not crying.
This same footage was also found uploaded on the YouTube channel @yadav_samudaya on May 3, 2025. Here, too, it can be seen that Yadav is not crying.
Searching screenshots of this reel on Google Lens led us to a news report from January 15, 2025, on the news website Pro Kerala, which shows Yadav, the person supporting him by holding his hand, and Tej Pratap in the same clothes but from a different angle. According to the report, this picture dates back to January 15, 2025, when RJD chief Yadav visited the residence of Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party chief Pashupati Kumar Paras in Patna.
The same footage of Yadav visiting Pashupati Kumar Paras’s residence is also available on ANI’s YouTube channel, dated January 15, 2025.
We also spoke to Ashwini Kumar, the editor-in-charge of Dainik Jagran in Patna, regarding this matter. He confirmed that this footage dates back to January 2025, when Yadav visited Pashupati Kumar’s residences in Patna.
The difference between the original and the edited picture can be clearly seen in the collage below.
The Truth About Vacating the Government Bungalow
According to news reports, in the last week of December 2025, the Lalu-Rabri family started vacating their famous government residence at ’10 Circular Road’ in Patna. According to Hindustan Times and other media reports, “The family is now shifting to their new private residence (Mahua Bagh) after receiving a notice from the Bihar government’s building construction department. It is worth noting that the Patna High Court had delivered a significant judgment in February 2019, which struck down the rule granting government bungalows to former chief ministers for life. The court believed that this was a misuse of public funds and resources. Following this order, bungalows are to be taken back from former chief ministers, such as Rabri Devi, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Jagannath Mishra.”
