Fact Check: Two Accused In Chandan Mishra Murder Injured In Encounter, But Viral Videos Are From A Different Incident

On July 22, 2025 Bihar Police arrested two accused in the Chandan Mishra murder case after an encounter. Earlier, four other accused have also been arrested in this case. However, both viral videos, claiming to feature the accused, are from Rajasthan and have no connection to this case.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). On July 17, 2025 gangster Chandan Mishra was shot dead by five assailants inside Paras Hospital in Patna. Following the incident, two videos began circulating widely on social media, allegedly showing the accused involved in the murder. One video shows men with leg injuries stepping out of a police vehicle, and the other shows police parading four injured individuals. Social media users are claiming that both videos depict the suspects in the Mishra murder case.

Vishvas News investigated the viral claim and found it to be fake. Both videos are unrelated to the Mishra case and are from Rajasthan.

What Is In The Viral Post

Instagram user ‘siwan_vidhansabha’ shared this video on July 19, 2025 (archive link). In the video, a few injured men are being escorted out of a police van. The caption reads:   “Chandan Mishra murder case, see the condition of the shooter in Patna Paras Hospital.”

Instagram user ‘sunilkushwaha554’ also shared another video (archive link), claiming it showed the accused in the Chandan case.

Investigation

First video

To verify the viral video, we closely analysed its content and noticed a watermark of Chittorgarh Patrika. Using relevant keywords, we found a related video on the YouTube channel of News Rajasthan Patrika TV, uploaded on June 6, 2025. The same clip seen in the viral post also appears in that footage. According to the news, the police had arrested three key suspects, Harshvardhan, Badri, and Manoj Chaudhary, for allegedly killing a youth named Ajay Raj by opening fire in a Chittorgarh hotel. While being transported, the accused attempted to escape but couldn’t go far. During this, all three suffered leg fractures.

According to the news published on the Rajasthan Patrika website on June 6, 2025 the names of the accused are Harshvardhan, Badri, and Manoj Chaudhary.

This confirms that the video has no connection to the Paras murder case.

Second video

The second video was posted on July 20, 2025. We noticed that the vehicle number plate seen behind the accused was registered in Rajasthan, which raised suspicions about the claim.

Additionally, the word Municipal Corporation Bansur appears clearly in one frame of the video.

Based on these clues, we conducted a keyword search and found a related news report published by Dainik Bhaskar on July 1, 2025. A part of the viral video also appears in that report. According to the news, Bansur police had arrested four accused in connection with the murder case of a liquor contractor. Three of them were shot in the legs in a police encounter, while the fourth one was injured while attempting to flee.

This news can also be seen on the ETV Bharat website.

For verification, we contacted Rajasthan-based journalist Santosh Pandey and shared both videos with him. He confirmed that both of them are related to two separate murder cases in Rajasthan. One of these is from Chittorgarh and the other is from Kotputli-Baharod.

A report published in Prabhat Khabar on July 22, 2025, confirms that gangster Chandan Mishra was murdered inside Paras Hospital, Patna. In connection with this case, STF arrested three suspects after an encounter. Two of these accused, Balwant Kumar and Ravi Ranjan Singh, were injured. Earlier, the police had arrested four accused in this case from Kolkata.

Conclusion: On July 22, 2025 Bihar Police arrested two accused in the Chandan Mishra murder case after an encounter. Earlier, four other accused have also been arrested in this case. However, both viral videos, claiming to feature the accused, are from Rajasthan and have no connection to this case.
