Fact Check: Viral Photo Of PM Modi Giving Way To Water Ambulance Is Edited
The viral photo of PM Modi giving way to a water ambulance was edited. The original photo does not show a water ambulance. An old photo has been edited and is now being shared with a false claim.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Siliguri to campaign for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. During a roadshow, his convoy reportedly paused to allow an ambulance to pass. A related photo is now going viral, showing a water ambulance passing by PM Modi’s boat, with users sarcastically claiming he gave way to it.
Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral image is doctored. The original image does not show a water ambulance, but is being shared with a false claim.
What is going viral?
Facebook user ‘Vishal Chaudhary Kaptanganj’ shared the viral photo on April 12, 2026, with the caption, “For once, even a water ambulance was given way… I knew you all would forget this.”

Investigation
To verify the viral claim, we conducted a Google reverse image search of the photo. We found a related report on the Moneycontrol website, published on October 7, 2020. The original photo is included in this report, and no water ambulance is visible in it. According to available information, the photo dates back to 2012, when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat and inaugurated speed boats and water rides on the Sabarmati River bank in Ahmedabad.
Based on the information we received, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords. We found the video associated with the viral image on a YouTube channel called ‘DeshGujarat HD’, shared on August 16, 2012. According to the available information, Narendra Modi boarded a speedboat after inaugurating boating activities on the Sabarmati River bank.

What is the context?
According to a report published on Dainik Jagran’s website on April 11, 2026, “During the road show in Siliguri, while the Prime Minister’s convoy was proceeding, two ambulances crossed the road. The Prime Minister’s convoy immediately gave way to the two ambulances. Both ambulances sped away, sirens blaring.”
It is noteworthy that the Election Commission (EC) had announced the assembly elections for four states: Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. On March 15, 2026, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the dates at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, and voting took place in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry in a single phase on April 9, 2026. According to official data released by the EC, 85.38% voting was recorded in Assam, 89.83% in Puducherry, and 78.03% in Kerala.
Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on April 23, 2026, while West Bengal will vote in two phases on April 23 and 29, 2026. The results will be announced on May 4, 2026.
Lastly, we scanned the Facebook account of the user who shared the photo with the false claim and found that the user identifies as a resident of Uttar Pradesh and has 11000 followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral photo of PM Modi giving way to a water ambulance was edited. The original photo does not show a water ambulance. An old photo has been edited and is now being shared with a false claim.
