Investigation

To begin our investigation, we conducted a keyword search and found several news reports from April 2025, referencing Jagdeep Dhankhar’s statement. According to a Punjab Kesari report dated April 4, 2025, “After the passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha, at around 2.30 am, Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the constitutional resolution on the imposition of President’s rule in Manipur in February for discussion. On this, Kharge requested that this discussion be held in the next meeting of the House, as it was quite late now. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, “… why are you (Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar) so afraid of the government? The Chairman immediately ordered this comment to be removed from the proceedings of the House. Responding to Kharge’s comment, he said that India’s farmers and farmers’ sons are not afraid of anyone, under any circumstances.”

The segment seen in the viral video after the 8:34:05 timestamp in the Parliament proceedings livestreamed on April 3, 2025, on the Hindustan Times YouTube channel.

For further clarification, Vishvas News contacted Ashutosh Jha, Dainik Jagran’s National Bureau Chief, who confirmed that the viral claim is false. He clarified that Dhankhar’s statement, ‘a farmer’s son is not afraid of anyone’, is not recent and dates back to April 2025.
