Fact Check: Virat Kohli Did Not Make This Statement In Support Of Tejashwi Yadav, Viral Post Is Fake

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Following the defeat of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, a post is going viral on social media. The post claims that Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has supported former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav following RJD’s defeat.
Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral claim is fake, and Virat has not made any such statement.
What is going viral?
Instagram user ‘ cricketagain12 ‘ shared the viral post on November 23, 2025. The post reads, “Virat Kohli said – this defeat is not of Tejashwi Yadav or Rahul Gandhi, but this defeat is of those Biharis who leave their families and go outside Bihar to earn a living, this defeat is of those youth who knock door to door for employment.”
Similarly, other statements attributed to Virat are also going viral.
Investigation
To verify the viral claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords, but did not find any media reports confirming the claim.
To verify further, we conducted a keyword search using X Advanced Search on Virat Kohli’s X handle, but we couldn’t find any similar posts there either.
We also checked Virat Kohli’s official Instagram and Facebook accounts, but we did not find any posts there that could support the viral claim.
We contacted sports analyst, journalist, and commentator Syed Hussain for more information. We shared the viral post with him. He dismissed it as fake.
It is worth noting that the results of the Bihar elections 2025 were announced on November 14. According to information available on the Election Commission’s website, the BJP won 89, the JDU won 85, the RJD won 25, and the Congress won six seats.
Finally, we scanned the Instagram account of the user who shared the fake post and found that the user has 38.3 thousand followers.
