New Delhi (Vishvas News): A video is going viral on social media showing a man assaulting a woman while distributing suits to some women. Some users are sharing this video with claims that this video is recent.
Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral video dates back to 2023 and originates from Bangladesh. This video is being falsely presented as recent, misleading the viewers. This video has no connection to the current situation.
What is going viral?
Instagram user ‘official_rajbirchida0002’ posted a video (archive link) on March 30, 2025, with the caption, “Watch the act of this leader distributing suits to women, please give your views on the full video and please share the video.”
Many social media users have falsely shared this video as a recent incident.
Investigation
To verify the viral video, we extracted key frames and conducted a Google Lens search using them. This led us to a related report on ddhakatimes24.com, published on March 30, 2023. According to the report, “This video is from Bangladesh, and the person seen in the video scuffling with the woman is Mir Habibur Rahman Bittu, the president of the second ward of the Satkhira Municipal Awami League.”
We found a related news report on jugantor.com, published on April 2, 2021. According to the report, “The viral video is from Bangladesh, when on the occasion of Eid, Mir Habibur Rahman Bittu, the chairman of Ward No. 2 of Satkhira Municipality Awami League, was distributing sarees and when a woman put her hand forward to take the saree, Bittu misbehaved.”
We also found the viral video on SATKHIRA TRIBUNE’s YouTube channel, uploaded on March 31, 2023.
Additionally, the video was also uploaded on the Facebook page of Satkhira Bulletin on March 20, 2023, with claims that it originated from Bangladesh.
We contacted Bangladeshi journalist Sadiqur Rahman, who confirmed that this incident is old and took place in Bangladesh.
We scanned the Instagram profile of the user who shared the video, claiming it to be recent and found that the user has 1,322 followers.
