New Delhi (Vishvas News): A video is going viral on social media showing a tiger dragging a woman who stepped out of a car. Some users are sharing the video in the context of India, with many using the hashtag #Mumbai.

Vishvas News investigated this in detail and found that the video is old and originates from China. The incident happened in 2016 and is now being circulated again to create confusion.

Instagram handle Pratahkal Live shared the video with the caption, “A woman got out of the car after a fight with her husband, a tiger dragged her into the jungle…”

Investigation

Vishvas News used the Google Lens tool to verify the authenticity of the viral video. We extracted several keyframes from the video and searched them using Google Lens. We found this video on the YouTube channel of China Global Television Network (CGTN), uploaded eight years ago in July 2016. The video confirmed that a tiger had attacked a woman in Beijing’s wildlife park. The entire footage can be seen in the video below.

During our investigation, we also found a related report on ABC News’ YouTube channel, uploaded eight years ago.

Our investigation revealed that this video has gone viral many times in the past. At that time, several news websites had reported it.

BBC published a report on this incident on November 23, 2016, stating that tigers had killed a woman in a wildlife park in China. Following this, her daughter filed a lawsuit against the park management. According to the news, the woman, identified as Zhao, had visited Wildlife Park World with her family in July 2016.

Vishvas News continued its investigation and contacted wildlife expert Ajay Dubey, who confirmed that the viral video is several years old and that the incident occurred in China.
