Fact Check: Picture of 2018 PTI rally viral with the misleading claim

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A picture of a rally is going viral on social media, in which a huge crowd can be seen. Users are sharing this photo describing it as the recent rally in support of Imran Khan. Vishvas News in its investigation found that this is a picture of a PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) rally held in April 2018.
What’s in the viral post?
A Facebook user ‘Nida Sheikh’ shared this photo and wrote, ‘PTI Imran Khan Jalsa, Lahore Congratulations from Karachi & Peshawar! Imran Khan”

To start our investigation, we searched for the viral image by uploading it on Google reverse image. We found it on the official Facebook page of PTI Lahore. The picture was shared on April 30, 2018, in reference to a PTI rally held in Minar Pakistan.
We found this picture on Imran Khan’s official Facebook page as well and it was posted on April 29, 2018.
We also found news related to PTI’s rally in April 2018 on Tribune.com.
It was now clear that the viral picture of the PTI rally is from 2018. However, for further confirmation, we reached out to 24 News HD reporter Mohammad Kamran and shared this viral post with him. “This picture is not recent, but from 2018,” he told us.
In the social scan of the Facebook user, who shared the post with the fake claim, we found that the user is from Lahore.
Conclusion: Vishvas News in its investigation found that this is a picture of a PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) rally held in April 2018.
