Fact Check: Video of Women Falling Into A Manhole Is Not From Haryana

New Delhi (Vishvas News): A video showing a woman stepping out of an auto and falling into a manhole is going viral on social media. Later in the video, people can be seen rescuing her using a ladder. Some users are now sharing this video with the claim that it is from Haryana.
Vishvas News investigated and found this claim to be fake. The video is from Lima, the capital of Peru, and dates back to February 2025. It captures an incident where a woman accidentally fell into an open manhole while getting out of an auto. The video is now being misrepresented with a false claim linking it to Haryana.
What is going viral?
On March 22, 2025, Instagram user ‘sukh_sharma007’ shared the video clip (archive link ) with the caption, “This incident is from Haryana, where a woman getting down from an auto fell into the sewer.”
Many other users have also shared this video with similar claims.
Investigation
To verify the authenticity of the viral video, we used the Invid tool to extract keyframes of the video and conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens. This led us to a report on the website heraldodemexico.com, published on February 18, 2025. The report stated, “This video is from Lima, the capital of Peru, where a woman gets out of a taxi and as soon as she steps on the manhole cover, she falls inside. The people present there pulled the woman out with the help of a ladder.”
We also found a related report on the official YouTube channel of ‘Azteca Noticias‘, uploaded on February 19, 2025. The description confirms that the video is from Lima, the capital of Peru.
Additionally, a post related to the viral video was discovered on the official Facebook page of ‘Kurdistan24’, shared on March 9, 2025, also identifies the location as Peru.

To verify further, we contacted Anurag Agarwal, Bureau Chief of Dainik Jagran, Haryana, who confirmed that the video is not from Haryana.
Lastly, we scanned the Instagram profile of the user who shared the video and found that the user has over 48,000 followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated the viral video and found that it is not from Haryana.
