Fact Check: Viral post claiming Maruti Suzuki is offering free car by filling up a survey is fake

Vishvas News investigated and found the viral post to be fake. Maruti Suzuki has not make any such offer as claimed in the viral post. One should never click/share any suspicious links and it may be an attempt to steal the personal information.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): A post going viral on Facebook shows a graphics image with the text that states Maruti Suzuki is celebrating its 40th anniversary and giving Maruti Baleno Sigma MT Car as a gift prize. It further states that the prize can be claimed by sharing the link with friends on Whatsapp and by answering some questions. Vishvas News investigated and found the viral post to be fake. One should never click/share any suspicious links and it may be an attempt to steal the personal information.

Claim

A post shared on Facebook by a user named Jun Aid shows a graphics image with the text that states Maruti Suzuki is celebrating its 40th anniversary and giving Maruti Baleno Sigma MT Car as a gift prize. It further states that the prize can be claimed by sharing the link with friends on Whatsapp and by answering some questions.

Investigation

Vishvas News started its investigation by searching about the offer mentioned in the viral post on the official website of Maruti and also on its social media handles. We did not find any such report mentioning about the offer as claimed.

We investigated the viral claim by clicking on the given link. We were prompted to answer few questions and enter our personal details including Paytm no, phone no, etc.

We contacted Maruti Suzuki customer care executive and she said: “This is a fake offer. Maruti Suzuki has not made any such offer as claimed in the post. Users should not believe it or click on the viral link. For any official information, visit the official website only.”

We scanned the profile of the Facebook user Jun Aid who shared the viral post. We found that the user is based out of Bandipora.

Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found the viral post to be fake. Maruti Suzuki has not make any such offer as claimed in the viral post. One should never click/share any suspicious links and it may be an attempt to steal the personal information.
