Fact Check: Viral Video Of Blast Is From Syria, Not Pakistan

New Delhi, Vishvas News: A video of a blast is going viral on social media with claims that it shows the attack on the Army headquarters in Pakistan.
Vishvas News investigated the claim and found that the video is from Syria, which captures a fuel tank explosion in Douma.
What is the viral post?
On March 24, 2025, Facebook user ‘Aryan Age’ (Archive link) shared the viral video with the caption, “Massive Blast at Pakistan Army Headquarters, 20 Soldiers Burned Alive!.”
Investigation
To verify the claim, we conducted a Google Lens search using screenshots from the viral clip. We found the full video uploaded on an Instagram page called ‘ghassan_awwad’, on March 18, 2025, with the description ” A fuel tanker explosion near the Misraba Bridge in Douma, Damascus countryside.”
Following this lead, we searched for reports on fuel tanker blast in Dauma, Syria, using relevant keywords. This led us to the full video uploaded on Al Jazeera – Syria’s Facebook page on March 18, 2025, with the description “A fuel tank explosion at the Masraba Bridge in the city of #Doma Province #Damascus”
We found screenshots from the viral video featured in several news reports about a fuel tank explosion at the Masraba Bridge in Damascus.
This confirmed that the viral video was from Syria, not Pakistan. However, we needed to verify whether Pakistan’s Army Headquarters had been attacked. Our investigation revealed no credible reports of a recent attack on the Army Headquarters. However, reports indicated that on March 4, 2025, two suicide bombings breached a wall at a military base in northwestern Pakistan, reportedly resulting in multiple casualties.
To further verify the claim, we contacted Muhammad Kamran, Assignment Editor at 24 News HD Karachi. He confirmed that there has been no recent attack on the Pakistan Army’s headquarters. “
Facebook user Aryan Age, who shared the video with a fake claim, has over 150000 followers.
